I “love” Fedex. Got an email last week saying my package was delivered. Not to me when I looked for it. Delivered instead to my brain 🧠 dead 💀 neighbors. I actually needed Police intervention with these people once, besides a host of other problems with them, so it warmed my heart to have to go over there to retrieve it.

One can file for lost goods after 15 days with Priority Mail. Since my check was mailed on Tuesday, August 11th, the Post Office has until September 2nd to deliver. At that point, I'm unsure what to do.
Option 1 is to go back to Oppo - let them confirm that their check hasn't been cashed, and ask them issue me another check. (and the second time around, I'm providing them with a prepaid shipping label for UPS overnight delivery)...
Option 2 is to file a loss with the Post Office for the amount of the check. I'm sure that the Post Office's insurance limit for lost goods is less than the check amount (unless Oppo purchased additional insurance at the time of shipment, which I kind of doubt...).
Which option is the best? As of today (Wed. August 19th), the tracking number is just showing that the check left San Francisco and nothing else since then.
Since the Post Office is being defunded for political reasons, I can't really blame them for the situation, but I'm SURE that Oppo is tired of me, and also that I'm getting tired of the whole situation.

Yeah...this really sucks...nobody seems to really care.... Not to get political, but the Post Office needs some major fixes. They have been losing money for a very long time while raising prices. Part of it is less people paying bills by mail, sending cards, etc. But mainly they just stink at what they do. In our suburban neighborhood I get my neighbor's mail and they get mine...I'm constantly having to deliver it to them. They can't sort read or sort addresses correctly. we got some mail for an address on the other side of town and my wife took it to the PO to ask them to deliver it....she said they didn't apologize or even show signs of caring. She told them that's exactly why they should go out of business. They need someone to straighten the place up! And no, they won't be "defunded"....that's just a political talking point.

The check was mailed to me by Oppo on Tuesday, August 11th via 2-day Priority Mail and it's now Monday, August 18th. Now the Post Office's tracking app tells me: "Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility." And that's the last that it's been heard of since leaving San Francisco. So to summarize, Fed Ex lost my Oppo on June 8th. It's now August 18th, and between Oppo and the Post Office, I may have to restart the whole "lost my delivery" stuff all over again, but this time with the crippled Post Office instead of FedEx... Conclusions: Now is NOT a good time to be using the Post Office for anything (I could get political here, but I absolutely won't). Anytime ANY delivery service loses your package, plan on months before you get any reimbursement. Sometimes you just have to be patient... My biggest fear is that the Priority Mail shipment disappears completely. My second-biggest fear is that the Post Office eventually delivers the check from Oppo, but that the check is no longer valid because of the time interval. . Boom, I’m sorry to hear about the USPS debacle now. I have a sour taste from the post office as well. My last deployment from Japan to the US I mailed my trunk with all my uniforms and various souvenirs before the retrograde back home and I paid for the insurance. Needless to say, my trunk never made it back and it was lost by the post office with the lost tracking in San Francisco. I went thru the protocol of filing for a lost package and did the claim to get what it was worth to pay for replacement of uniforms. After a rebuttal and letter from my command listing what I lost and the prices for the post exchange replacement; the post office denied it because I did not have a receipt for my government issue uniforms that I got in boot camp. It’s all over but the crying but I am very disappointed with the process and the USPS. Apparently, their lost mail warehouse is somewhere in GA but the contact is thru email. Hopefully, you have better luck that I had.

Tracking says my envelope is now at my town, but until it's in my hands, I'll remain skeptical...

Post Office is being postal again - "Out for Delivery by 11am"
Out for Delivery by 2:30 pm"
Out for Delivery by 7 pm"
Which means it'll be tomorrow (if they don't lose it before).

It was delivered the following day. It's kinda like the first day was just for practice.

If it's been tracked/scanned to your local post office, call and talk to the delivery supervisor. Ask if he'll set it aside so you can pick it up if it's not actually out for delivery today.

The Oppo has already been replaced with a Yamaha, and the remaining $$$ goes into the "Tekton Design Double Impact" fund.
