"Change the HDMI type to 1.4 for your cable box and other sources that are just 1.4. HDMI will never be 100% backward compatible. So setting the HDMI type to match your source pretty much resolves all the issues." Lonnie, I have to strongly disagree with your statement. All my HDMI type settings are correct and I am still having the problem I described previously. This new “no audio” problem that I and others are having started with firmware 2.0. Please make sure this gets addressed ASAP. I watched about four hours of AppleTV 4K tonight with no audio issues. I believe this issue can be isolated to Cable or Satellite viewing. I get this while watching Directv. It’s a pain that needs fixing soon.

So far 2.0 feels too much like things did in the beginning. I've been at this for far too long to go back to a unit that really isn't ready for launch. I've re-installed the firmware but will need to wait till another day to see if things are any more stable. I had an XMC-1 for five years prior to the trade in. It had its ups and downs, but was very stable. I expect the XMC-2 and the RMCs to get there with firmware updates. These complicated processors are not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure, Hang in there. "I expect the XMC-2 and the RMCs to get there with firmware updates." RMC-1 was released to owners in it's current form 20 months ago. That is more than the release cycle of other companies who produce entirely new products more commonly than that. Meanwhile I feel like I am a beta tester

A tip... rather than shut down with rear switch, set your system to low power mode, but then turn on Zone 2. The system will effectively be in standby mode when "off"... the power LED will alternate blue and amber. To do a full shutdown, simply turn off Zone 2 and wait, then turn it on again. It will go through the full restart and you get to stay in your chair. Clever guy! This is actually a much MUCH better idea than EVER having to use the rear panel switch. Like a Windows PC, it is much better for computers (including our SSP) to be shut down naturally by the system rather than having the power pulled.

When a company is in business to deliver products, one just expects that company to build a team of people to deliver that product successfully. It should just be the expectation at the end of the day.

It should just be the expectation at the end of the day. I’ve owned two of these processors. The XMC-1 and now XMC-2. I bought the XMC-1 fully knowing about the issues with the UMC-1. I always research before buying. I took a chance on the XMC-1 and have absolutely no regrets. I also have no regrets trading in the XMC-1 for the 2. The only issue I currently have with the product is the loss of audio with my Directv box. All other sources are working great. Dirac is wonderful. With some patience, this audio issue will be resolved. I’ve had issues with all the big boys including Denon and Sony with absolutely no access to anyone who could help me. I won’t go into the issues, but they were no help. Having this level of access to company resources and engineers is really great. I do hear your frustrations especially with the length of time to get Dirac to the RMC-1. I would also be frustrated. Dirac also has blame here. It’s not all Emotiva. I would say for those who really like these processors, stay patient. I know that’s easy to say, but your choices are to keep, sell, or return your unit. I’m choosing to keep mine.

So true what you say....you really have to maintain a world of patience in order to stay in this game. Sometimes I think about pulling my non HDMI processor out of mothballs but it’s just too far behind the technological curve to entertain the notion seriously......oh well. Bill

So, this is interesting. I have had multiple "loss of audio" as well as slowdown and freezes with the new firmware as have others. One speculation was the multiple Dirac filters created, however I have only loaded one Dirac filter. To be fair, I can go a couple days without issues and then I can have multiple issues that require a reboot in a short span of time. Would really be nice to know what is causing this and why. So would be useful for folks to tag a purchase date for you processor in your equipment list to see if there is any correlation? I am mulling over when to upgrade to 2.x . I might wait until the next release, but I so want Dirac...this is my primary driver for buying the XMC-2 Cheers J

So, I was at a friends house last night and he has an Onkyo ATMOS processor. Some of the issues I have been seeing are present on his processor as well. For example, if I wam watching an ATMOS programme, and press stop, there is no audio for about 6 seconds. Also, there is no audio on an ATMOS signal for 4-6 seconds after you press play if the last signal was not ATMOS. Without making excuses for Emotiva, me thinks there's more to this than just the Emo firmware.

Dirac was not an issue and neither was 2.0 for me. Loss of audio bug is the last hurdle for me. And it only happens with Directv.

That requires you to get off the couch though..... Works with the remote also, even a harmony 😊 When the unit is working, it definitely works with the remote or front button. When my XMC-2 crashes, neither the remote nor holding the front button works, then the rocker switch is the only option.

After changing the Hdmi setting from 2.0 to 1.4 I have been able to start my unit twice now without issue . Thank you Thunderduck and Lonnie for the suggestion.

Thought you said that was already set correctly? It has been set at Hdmi 2.0 from the beginning - updating to firmware v. 2.0 broke functionality. In the past every time I've tried changing this setting with every new firmware it fixed NOTHING (which is why I hadn't thought to try it before creating this thread). ... maybe this time something "new and wonderful" will happen? Soo... yes my unit was "set correctly" and behaving correctly before v. 2.0 - maybe my unit just has a cold and will be better in a week or so .

Watching the Nationals on Directv and the audio just stopped.
First time in about two days. 6 second front power button push, wait a couple minutes, powered back on, sound back.
Really hope this problem can be resolved soon. It’s huge and embarrassing especially when your wife makes comments. At least with COVID we don’t have to explain to friends.
