Yeah, Hollywood artists who do Matte Paintings (real old school) had NOTHING on nature.
If I could post a photo, I'd start with maybe a couple of my 'field of lava' shots.......
BTW? When renting a car on the big island? 4 forbidden / not covered areas.
1. Road to the beach which is ALL crushed lavastone and hell on tires. I'm bad with names..... 2. Saddle Road. narrow, poorly paved and at high elevation 3. Some road at the END of the road. This is a CLIFF and DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT......I walked the first 100 feet and realize that IF I got down the hill, it was a ONE WAY trip......and expensive! Enjoy the view! 4 Road to South Point. Wind Farm here which is a near-total WRECK.....And some spectacular cliffs / views.
I did 3 of the 4 without even knowing But I was careful and NOT in a hurry.
I've never seen a sky as dark / rich as what I saw coming back from the volcanoes. Even the wife was speechless and for once, remembers something NOT associated with shopping..,

One Hawaii question, though?
Where do you get a good PIZZA? Or for that matter, good Mexican food?

If it doesn't exist on the islands? MIGHT be a market for it. A GOOD place, in the tradition of half a dozen really good SoCall Mexican take out places.....
hell, start with a food truck. Than go brick and mortar...Than open a branch on ANOTHER island......

many 'regions' if it worked like professional wrestling......
Like in chicago? Our weekly Monster Movie was 'Shock Theater'.....while here on the West Coast you had Elvira....
Every market had its own version. and set of wacky gimmicks......But it HAD to be cheap to produce!
As for Roller Derby? check out the episode of PSYCH which had the LADIES derby as backdrop. Good fun for all.
I JUST LOOKED and Elvira was actually late to the part. Some other guy (Fright Night) ran the franchise in LA back
'when'.
I have no idea at this point just who started it and when OR where.......
My favorite version of the old/bad movie on TV? MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER......

Predecessors to Fright Night were Chiller (channel 11) and Strange Tales (channel 9) in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. And regarding roller derby, the Los Angeles Thunderbirds were the world champions. On Los Angeles TV, that is. In other cities, the hometown team happened to be the world champion for that particular viewing network. The world champion wrestler when I used to watch wrestling from the Olympic Auditorium was Mark Lewin. But we would be treated to Bobo Brazil and Freddie Blassie every week, too.

When I was a kid? We had Haystacks Calhoun.......
But for the world? The Von Eric Family might be the Poster Child of Greek Tragedy......I'll let YOU look 'em up......
I was sort of a fan of Rowdy Roddy Piper (and he made movies) as well as a few others.......Fun but not serious....
And who WAS that guy that ate the padding off the turnbuckles? A highschool teacher in his spare time!

A highschool teacher in his spare time! I used to love watching The Claw when I was younger and was shocked when I got to high school to find out that he lived about 15 minutes from me. I used to see him out and about in Prior Lake from time to time. Never got the courage to say "hello" to him though, I was too star struck as a teenager to come up with the simple word of "hello".

Actually, I was thinking of George 'The Animal' Steele......It just took me overnite and some distraction to remember!
Where did 'The Claw' wrestle?
I tried out twice for wrestling.
On the East Coast of Florida I tried out as 'The Berserk Turk' but they already had a nutty Arab.
Later on the West Coast I tried the 'stupid' thing as 'Groppo'......But there is so much Stupid in Florida that I nothing to distinguish myself....

I miss remembered who it was because the The Claw aka Barron von Raschke was a teacher too. He wrestled in the AWA back in the day. Lol! Gotta try to stand out somehow!

for all you WRESTLING Fans?
Look up the Von Erich Family....From Texas.
I don't remember all the details, but it reads like a Greek Tragedy. I think they are now in the 3rd generation.....
If any are still active at all. MANY died chasing the dream......
