Emotiva has already said they were shipping goods to fill the Rotterdam warehouse. In the last podcast they said they were waiting for the international website to be finished. I have no doubt we will see Emomotiva go international this year.
I do not expect to see anything happen before the Februari 14 release date of the XMC-1. Emotiva cannot afford any delay of that February 14 release date. So I do not think anything else has priority at the moment. Everything Emotiva is working on at the moment is probably XMC-1 related.
If they succeed in getting the XMC-1 released on February 14, without major problems, I expect that in the second quarter we will see the launch of the international website.

No word about the European branch in the latest podcast. Probably too busy building their own assembly factory....

I wish they would get the European branch open already so I could buy some stuff.
Currently I can't be bothered because of the shipping cost, the way the duty system works (at least in Denmark) you pay Duty of the cost of the item INCLUDING the shipping, so a good deal becomes a mediocre deal for me if I buy from the US.
Obviously I expect the prices in the European shop to be higher, I would expect they will just "transfer" the price so $999 becomes €999 which is ~30% more, it would still be a good deal.

You could use a shipping forwarder like jetcarrier.com and you'll save some on the shipping. You can choose air/sea, sea being cheapest. Another good thing is that they take care of the customs and you do not have to pay taxes for the shipping :-)

Hmmm... I never thought about that, I will look into that and see how much trouble it is - thanks

I agree with some of the opinions on this post. Right now, Emotiva has other priorities, the release of the XMC-1 the most important.
I expect that after things are stable, the European Branch becomes a reality.

If it's about the straight $ to € conversion that I mention, the reason I say that is that is how it usually is. Remember the European price would include VAT (which is 21% in Netherlands) since you always list prices including VAT in Europe.

Look, this works both ways. The DIY guys over at AVS purchase SEOS™ horns made in Poland. They also pay duties... I pay less for each of my three Polish horns than they pay in bulk. Actually, now is a great time to buy from USA. The euro is like 1.37 USD now. This means that when you add shipping, duties & VAT, that $999 is little more than €999 right now. Bought a DC-1 round the year end actually. Great bargain.

Just did the same.
I was actually expecting the European branch to open before last Christmas and getting myself several Emo presents. It didn't happen and when Big Dan stated in the podcast that the Euro warehouse would only start operating when the new Emotiva site comes online with the new multi-currency shop, and that he had no idea on when that would be, I just ended up buying from some other vendors.
But I was still missing a DAC for my computer audio system and just couldn't find anything that would promise me the same quality/price ratio of the DC-1 so I just bought one. At its current price, even with customs and VAT it's a good deal.
Of course, with my luck, they'll launch the new site next week...

Bought a DC-1 round the year end actually. Great bargain. Sure it works both ways but I don't think you are aware of the difference, as far as I know you don't even have VAT in the US, so you only only pay a few percent on top of the price where we have to pay close to 30% when buying from the US. Example: I want to buy 2 XPA-1's that's $2098, shipping from the US is $485 price, total after documents/VAT/taxes ~ 18.285 DKR = $3.360 And that's just the cost, the option to be able to send the equipment for service closer to home is also a huge thing. So I'll be holding off buying until the European branch opens or I'll end up buying some Chinese Amps instead if it takes too long.

Its 30% more, but as zimmergeil referred, is applied to the product + shipping. I've bought the 799$ UMC/UPA bundle, plus 200$ shipping, and after taxes, i paid 1030€ = 1410$ Considering the product value (799$) and the actual price paid (1410$), its almost doubling the price. Even so, it was a good buy, as it was the price of a mid range receiver ...

The DC-1 with free USB cable and two other cables plus freight came to $620. Add duties and VAT and it's €587. How can you not call that a great deal? Shipping heavier stuff has indeed suffered from rising costs, so the EU branch is certainly welcome. And about that servicing: I am pleased to inform you that you are wrong... There's a Dutch repair shop performing for Emotiva now. They are also servicing many other brands besides Emotiva. I read on a Dutch forum that they are very capable.

To Norway the price will be 13,3% higher if dollars turns to euro - and even higher if the free shipping isnt for countries outside the EU. (800$ unit + 200$ shipping) x 25% tax = 1250$ (7500 NOK) 800 euros x 25% tax = 1000 euros (8500 NOK)
But a European repaircenter would be Nice if they cover shippingcost if a amp needs a fix..

Nobody is stopping Norway from entering the EU... but the Norwegians themselves.
It's okay, I would not be paying for the Southern EU states deficits if I had a choice. OTOH, I just purchased a pair of Beyma woofers (Spanish brand) from a Spanish webshop for about 25% less than they would cost in my own little country.

Well.. We did support the southern countries with lots of money even though we are not in the EU. Simply put, we are a part of the EU (not on paper), but we do not have anything to say when the decisions are made ;-)

Not sure if it is a good thing going into politics but since you started.... The reason for having non wealthy countries in the EU has several reasons aside from money (yes money isn't everything), it ensures long term peace, all in all it is probably worth it.
