I pick up myself, but being just a short distance away it only makes sense.

I wonder how much more expensive Emo equipment will be in Amsterdam once they open. Shipping costs to USA and Europe being similar and having to pay VAT, i guess it will be usual affair of us paying same price in pounds as americans pay in dollars (e.g. $1200=£1200). Am i being too pessimistic? We'll see.

I would hope that it will be more like $ = €, so £ folks should be seeing a 15 to 20% better price versus the $. Currently importing costs me a little less than $ = € including the shipping cost, so with (I would hope) cheaper or free shipping it really should be more like $ = €.

It seems that Emotiva never make the deadline they plan for themselves. As much as I like Emotiva it is starting to put me off.

Long time listener, first time caller.
It would be great if Emo would open up a euro branch. I'm in the market for a few emo stuff but buying from us has been a problem, especially if the seller doesn't have usps (not to mention the usps weight cap)
I understand that fedex and ups may be great in the states but in Europe they are run by gangsters, at least in greece where I live. While buying from usps, the post office may or may not charge customs tax and vat, on the other hand ups, fedex and dhl while try to extort impossible amounts from the end customer. I'm not talking about the regular tax and vat but they charge storage fees, filing and processing fees that easily amount to more than 150€.
That is on top of duties and vat. As an example, fedex charges about 75€ for the customs clearing process, while the post office does this automatically and charge 3€! That is probably the problem a russian guy had in another thread...
I understand that most american companies don't care about the rest of the world, however there is only gains to be had for the ones that do! A few examples would be a few computer hardware companies in the us. I also strongly feel that Netherlands would be good for Europe but France is better as it is more centrally located. Amazon ships from france for all its european subsidiaries. Before that, buying from amazon.com was faster to Greece than buying from amazon.co.uk...
Avoid germany and the uk at all costs! I can provide more information if you need me to...
Thanks, silkman

Nasty - I've never had more than a €30 processing charge from UPS or Fedex here (Ireland). Maybe wirting to FedEx HQ about it would be useful? Surely the processing should be included in the initial shipping price paid.

I know - many times I have bought from the us and didn't pay attention to which carrier they use and their "expenses" were much more than the order total!
Come on emotiva! Set up shop quickly!

Seems like you were shafted by your local FedEx. Never had issues with them in the UK or Nederlands.

If Emotiva wants to set up a European branch, I volunteer to help. Let me know what is needed for the next steps.

If Emotiva wants to set up a European branch, I volunteer to help. Let me know what is needed for the next steps. You're not the first to offer help, I think they have their own plan and are sticking with it. My guess is using a FedEx warehouse to ship and everything else will still be handled via the US. Likely they are waiting for the next range of products to be available and will have a delivery from China go direct to Amsterdam and thus have it come on stream at the same time as the new range. That's all speculation though.

The original plan was that it will not just be a shipping facility but also a repair centre. I will forgive EMO the delay, although annoying, as long as it's opening before the XMC-1 starts to ship .

I suspect "repair centre" meant/may mean either outsourcing batches to a local vendor or possible shipping in bulk back to Emotiva.
Maybe this is where the delay has come from.

Hi Ausman, maybe if you quote what you are replying to it would be clearer as to what point you are trying to make? Shipping should be free (like in the US) from the local Euro-hub to at least EU countries I would hope and it currently costs way more than $50 so again, I'm not sure what your point is?

Has anyone got any news on European hub? Would be sweet to save the hassle of importing XMC or Airmotivs.
