Quote "Well I'm confused because I was told by vincent that I would receive an email with the call tag. I have not received anything. You are saying it is in fedex hands, does that mean they are coming to get it or what? " You will get an email from FedX about the call tag. The link takes you to the FedX website to enter in some information and print off the call tag. You can then either take it right away to a FedX facility or sign up to wait for FedX to come and pick it up. Hey thats a cool bit of info I didn't know (never had to issue a call tag to myself). Thanks for sharing.

I was just thinking awhile back - you wouldn't have major employees of Onkyo/integra or HK (companies whose products are remotely in this price range) responding with this kind of rapidity.

hey lonnie, Im guessing the factory reset should help with my "problems"
But could you please verify what the UMC should be displaying after the update when we get the software version(mute/status/volume up)

I liked it as well, but we got so many complaints about it (probably because it was a misunderstanding of what was happening) that we took it out. I will certianly look into adding it to the menu for a later rev. ;D Thank you Lonnie.I am lookin forward to enjoing music in ALL CHANNEL STEREO again.UMC 1 is an amazing unit .Now that all of the bugs are fixed I have nothing else to do but pop a blu ray movie in my Oppo player and go back in heaven

hey lonnie, Im guessing the factory reset should help with my "problems" But could you please verify what the UMC should be displaying after the update when we get the software version(mute/status/volume up) Once completed the loader software will tell you it is done but the UMC itself won't show anything. If you do the Mute, Status, Volume up sequence on the remote it will show you the firware version the unit is running which should be 5.46.07.xxxxxx. If I remember correctly the origianl release version was something like 5.43.03.xxxxxx

Sigh... One of the unlucky ones here...
It'll get through the "CONTROL MCU" update just fine, but crashes and burns when trying to do the main HDMI firmware update. The updater reports Code number:2 and Send "reset 0" command no resonse [sic]. This is under Vista. Tried XP running in a VM, but no dice. It loses the USB when it power-cycles the UMC, and does not reacquire it quickly enough...
I may give it another go with VMWare on a Linux host, or I suppose I could finally try out Boot Camp on the wife's Macbook... Sorry, I'm a Linux guy who had hoped his work Vista laptop would have been sufficient. And yes, I've followed the instructions explicitly.
I've already called for my RMA. Theater is dead until further notice - sadly the mismatch in firmware will no longer allow the unit to boot.
I suppose, given the long wait to get the unit in the first place, I should consider the additional delay as quite small in relation... I should, but I'm having a bit of trouble convincing myself of this.

Allright now that I've got a chance to play some more some wonky things seem to be happening. First tried Emo-Q for the first time got some really screwy settings. Had the x-over for my fronts as 250, center 50, surround, 70 and sub 120. Seems way off. The trims were all decreased by 5-7 for all speakers, and the sub was increased by about the same. Needless to say the sub was WAY too hot. Not sure what's going on here. Gonna try a factory reset and then reinstall the update followed a power cycle and additional rest.
Oh by the way what do people get with the mute-staus-vol up deal for a firmware version?
mine says: W5.46.00.07

Try moving the mic to a different location where the element is open and in direct line of sight with the speakers. This will probably correct the issues. With all auto room correction systems mic placement is critcal.

Unfortunatley for Mac users, we cannot offer this for Mac OS at this time. You can try XP/7 on a Mac, send in the unit to us for upgrading, or call up a friend with a PC laptop and offer them a beer. ;D Mmmm Beer......

That's too bad that the "ALL CHANNEL STEREO" mode was removed. I agree with everyone else that it should be added on a future upgrade. I liked it as well, but we got so many complaints about it (probably because it was a misunderstanding of what was happening) that we took it out. I will certianly look into adding it to the menu for a later rev. That's great Lonnie, I hope you guys add it again. Would it be possible to have both? True stereo (2 Ch) and all channel stereo as an option?

Hmm...it's on a tripod at my usual seating position at ear height which is basically in the middle of the room above the back of a low-backed couch. Never had a problem with MCACC not liking the position, but I will try it again. I will say that the threading on the bottom of the mic doesn't fit my tripod I though they were all standard.? Good to know that the FW is UTD, as I didn't really want to fire up windoze again.

If its a serial communications protocol that you care to share I could probably write something that would work for a Unix based system (Mac / Linux) - no promises but I'd be willing to guinea pig it on my system (when it show up ). I believe I saw another response in this thread offering programming help as well. I can completely understand if you want to keep it all in house - but sometimes a little open-source help .... well helps! Brian

Ok. I've still got problems with this updater.
From what I gather, there is no 64 bit version of the updater. You were simply saying to use winrar 64 bit? correct? I really don't see what the difference would be since winrar 32bit should run the same in win 7 64, though slightly slower, perhaps. In either case it's a non-issue since I had winrar 64bit installed long before the umc was even released.
Everything works fine until I hit step 6. My computer simply will not except this driver. First it would get stuck trying to load the usbexpress device driver. I found a usb to ps2 adapter and was finally able to get past the locked usb using cntrl+shift+ esc and ctrl+alt+del. I click on the box that says install driver anyway and it does, but windows still does not recognize this device.
In the device manager it shows the usbexpress device with a yellow exclamation point. when I click on properties it gives me a paragraph or so under device status about an improper digital signature and ends with Code 52.
I have tried numerous ways to correct this. uninstalling reinstalling, safe mode, bypassing the updaters automatic driver install and going with exe under the driver folder (which doesn't require me to hit ctrl shift esc, etc to get to work for those that might be interested), update driver in device manager and point at the x64 directory for the drivers (it tells me the best ones are already installed or it can't find any.)
I downloaded XP virtual machine only to find out that my computer's hardware doesn't support it and Microsoft, in all of their infinite wisdom, provides nothing but vague clues as to what "hardware" my computer is missing to get it to work.
I'm down to about two options. 1.) Move my entire vista desktop within range of the usb cable 2.) or unhook the umc and take it to the vista machine.
Neither one is appealing. I might have one other option where I can use my router as a middle man, but I've never had much luck getting that to work before.
Any other thoughts on what I might be missing?

Not a dig on anybody....but
How is that Emotiva is seemingly doing the FW at their place with much better luck..?? Is it possible that the procedure is dependent on the exact same setting that their PC's are using??
