I think it would be cool if the UMC could create the frequency response graphs, that way we could see what its measuring. I guess we could extrapolate based on the EQ adjustments, but it would be cooler to see the actual FR. Perhaps and enhancement? Or new feature for the XMC. Great idea!

If people didn't notice Lonnie also has a new video: EMO-Q 102Lonnie Vaughn discusses EMO-Q: What it is, and how it works. emotiva.com/emoq102.shtmExcellent work with both of these! Lonnie, just wanted to say that you used the prefect amount of tech terms to layperson speak which made your video informative and approachable. Bravo!!! Thanks, Interesting thought here. Over the years I have done a couple of hundred seminars. I have no problem speaking to people. But a camera is a whole other thing. To say that least, this was not exactly my best work, but hopefully it will help some people.

FFT is a "snooze fest"?!?!? I am INSULTED Mr. Vaughn. Insulted I say. ;D edit - The red shirt is pretty cool. Are those available to the general public? If you like running them, power to you. I on the other hand can think of at least a couple of things I would rather do. ;D

Just a quick comment here. Maybe it should choose the LAST -3dB point rather than the FIRST -3dB point to choose the highpass crossover. That way if there are frequency response differences between the drivers they will be over-ruled in favor of the actual frequency characteristics of the speakers. Then the EQ can fix the mismatch between the drivers. Isn't that kind f the point? That would require a loop set where it scanned across the response marking each transistion point and then running a comparison of the frequencies to find the one that best suits the application. Not sure if that is possible, but worth looking into.

edit - The red shirt is pretty cool. Are those available to the general public? Haven't you seen any episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series?!?! You do NOT want to be in a red shirt unless your name is Scotty! I know, my bad. Right after I finished shooting this, I was killed by some odd looking creature in a rubber suite. ;D

Difficulty level: about 100 ;D

Sorry Lonnie ;D I'm sure your difficulty scale is what...1 to 1,000,000. So I guess 100 is fairly easy.

Oh, your killing me here. That's because your wearing the red shirt... Are you sure his shirt is really red? Maybe your monitor or the camera wasn't calibrated properly. Did anyone run a calibration program on it first? ;D

Maybe requiring the setting of the nominal freq. response range of the speakers could allow to software to choose the most likely actual crossover point? Have the user set the crossovers manually to begin the auto correct procedure?

Lonnie's vid was extremely helpful, even though I agree with dyohn that FFTs are far from a snooze fest. The vid gave me some ideas as to why it thinks my front mains are out of phase and clues as to what may be going on with the wacko distance and crossover settings its picking. Thanks much, Lonnie! ;D

Or perhaps if it detects a -3db point above, say, 200Hz it can stop and display a message such as "Your speakers and/or room treatments are sub-standard. Emo-Q will now stop and wait for you to take appropriate corrective action. Please visit emotiva.com/ert83.shtm for assistance."

Now that is an easy solution (and profitable one at that) ;D
