What makes me wonder about opening up features like this and others like Mosquito noise reduction and block noise are some statements I have read. In one post the claim the EQs are all over the place, the crossovers are wrong, etc and in a different post something like but I don't know how to set these. I won't say what, but this tells me a lot. I for one am glad that you've opened this stuff up for us to tinker with. Those who know how to adjust the settings will do so while those who want to take it or leave it also have the option available. Perhaps you should add a button that toggles from novice to advanced user mode. Just a suggestion. I don't have the UMC-1 but I'm on the waiting list for the XMC-1 and I would hate to see you block tinker access to the the XMC-1. I can tell you're frustrated with this but hey, it's Valentines day Lonnie. Lighten up. ;D

Lonnie, just know many of us appreciate the hard work, and the system.I use no eq yet and this unit sounds really good, much better than my 805 with all it's eq enabled ever did.

Lonnie - Keep it open, PLEASE. No matter what the results 'look' like, a person can always dial it in manually. I've been drooling over this functionality ever since I heard it would be available. Don't turn my drool to waste water!

Recent observations have led to new revelations. Over the past few days I have come to realize that the other companies who make auto-room correction systems are right about one thing. With all the other systems I have seen, it runs and if you like it, you use, if not, you don't. You can't see or change any of the results that it came up with. It now makes perfect since to me why they did this. At first I thought it would be great to open up the system to the public and let them tailor their systems. But I now see that I wrong about this and will remember for future models and software versions. Sometimes, what looks like a great idea turns out not to be. Lonnie, Please do not take all these folks to heart. More than half of them piss me off with "do this do that" on the remote to a bunch of other whiney behaviors with "if it just had this" Enough already! Please make this product the way you want to, and let all the other stuff roll off to file 13! I do think some of the commentary has been healthy but not for the most part. I for the life of me cannot figure the emphasis on ideas to design the product versus getting it stable. Let's use it for what it offers and then roll-out a nice-to-have thread in the second generation sometime later but for Pete's sake not now! I really think folks should spend time trying to understand the technology versus making assumptions that they have not qualified. Please everyone keep your comments civil, think it through a bit and use more of a learning approach where you qualify your concern in more of a question than a critical lob. I have been ignoring all the drivel until now but now it is having an affect on Lonnie's perspectives which is very dangerous for me as I do not think all the gibberish has been warranted or qualified! Please make your product to your vision, apply continuous improvement on the software and we will all be fine! Please keep the innovation going! It is very much appreciated! Your the only one we want driving the mother ship!

Don't turn my drool to waste water! My sentiments exactly. I have marveled over the EMO-Q videos, and all the other features and am chomping at the bit to get into this! I really do not want any spoilers tearing all this down.

Thanks for a great processor!!!!!

Why not do like some BIOSes on PCs, have an "advanced" menu or an "advanced option" lock - so those of us that are happy fiddling can get at the goodies and those that want it simple can keep it that way?

Why not do like some BIOSes on PCs, have an "advanced" menu or an "advanced option" lock - Speaking for all of us pocket protector types.......leave it open, or provide a Geek Mode. There is already way too much in the world that has been dumbed down. Tools rock, Lonnie.....thank you ! R

I know the unit is still buggy, but I also wonder how many of the problems are self induced? I've seen the same thing in computer help forums. Many tinker without having the expertise or technical savvy, then complain to tech support that the P.C. is substandard. As these devices become more and more technical,so do the bugs. My son is a perfect example, opens boxes, throws the manuals aside, starts plugging things in,and fires up the power. THEN,when nothing works right, guess what,"hey dad,can you help??!!" Sigh, and i do.(For a small fee)

Lonnie...simple message: keep it open. Consider nemesis.ie's excellent suggestion, but leave it open to tweaking (and if there are issues w/it not finding speakers or finding ones that don't exist, fix that...but leave the tweaking in...).
To others...if you have Audyssey like I do on my Denon, go in and check the by-speaker, by-frequency range adjustments it is recommending. Then, go ask yourself with all honesty...do you really believe your speakers as flat as the MFR's spec (which are from anechoic chambers) when playing in your room? (Mine are anything but that!) Then, ask yourself...why did it show what it showed...is it the Mic that came with my system, my speakers, my amp, my room, the software, or phase of the moon?
Personally, it appears to me that EMO-Q is like a mirror that some don't want to look into -fearing they will see something ugly. But, ugly might be truth...better to know that than ignore it.
Might I just say that perhaps what EMO-Q is telling us is that we have some frequency response issues in our systems/rooms that perhaps we should address? We can choose to accept EMO-Q's advice, take parts of it and tweak as we see fit, or ignore it. What's so bad about that?
(Again to Lonnie...these things about it finding speakers that don't exist or not finding ones which do seem to need to be addressed...but other than that - I like what I hear of EMO-Q from other users and you)

If you are considering getting rid of any functionality in EMO-Q, get rid of the automated system. Leave the functionality there for those of us who want to tweek our systems! That way there would be no unrealistic expectations.

Because of my excitement about getting my UMC and because I have not yet gotten it, I have read a lot of threads/posts that I normally know better than to waste my time with. It has actually been a useful learning experience! I have always known to be suspicious of anything I read on forums since the source is unknown. My opinion has gone way on down, all the way to the bottom, of people who have negative things to say about products. I will come out and say it. People who start off with forum complaints are idiots. The first evidence of this is that they ask for help in the wrong places. It is easier to sit down and pound a keyboard than to try to learn and think on their own. In the case of Emotiva a phone call gets an explanation from the very guy who designed the machine. But nooo! Sheesh.
Lonnie, Please, never make decisions about anything based on what you read in forums. Not even if it is your own forum!

Lonnie, please keep it open and would you also consider shipping the video tutorials with the new units? It would be nice to have a DVD that helps me get the most out of this fantastic equipment you guys have come up with and I only get dialup at home so streaming is not an option for me. I’ll pay an extra $5 for the DVD if you’re able to add it.
I’m so excited about getting mine I can hardly stand it.

I am now taking a step back and evaluating all the projects in the pipeline. I think it is important to carefully consider the ramifications of the feature sets. Whether by design or not if a specific feature causes more problems than it rectifies, then it becomes a liability to the sucess of the product. So I think it is important to consider what features should be open by not only what they do, but by what the ramifications of such a feature can do. That's all.

Personally, I myself have never liked the autotune features on the market. I honestly could care less if they come with them or not. But I do hope that Emotiva keeps all the manual adjustment features in tact and actually would like to see even more tweakability added in the future(hint, hint, the XMC-1 and others down the product pipeline). There are many people like me who prefer the multiple MANUAL presets that are available and will be readily use them. Things like multiple crossover adjustment points, adjustable slope options for those crossover points, independant speaker level sets, and the independent channel mulitband EQ's, speaker distant corrects etc. are highly desireable and I hope they won't ever be omitted..........

Jeb Many, many, perfectly happy customers never post on the forum. They are just not interested. A lot of forum people don't believe this, because they are passionate about online communities, and do not understand anything else. It would be nice to hear alittle more from content customers.

Trust me when I say their silence speaks volumes as to how happy they are, to me. Most people should know how to interpret the INTERNET and forums to figure out if products have issues or if a hand full of people have issues. I do a lot more reading then posting but can tell your products are top notch and there are a few squeaky wheels that want grease.

So I think it is important to consider what features should be open by not only what they do, but by what the ramifications of such a feature can do. That's all. Yep, understood. So once again, the whiners dictate the necessity to dumb down the product. Here's a thought: I would pay extra for FW with the extra functionality. Give the masses their 'safe' versions of the products.....and offer an extended feature set for those who are actually capable of a bit of independent thought. These 'geek versions' need'nt even be 'supported'.....just give us some tools to work with if we choose. R
