That's not really that long. To reach my PJ, I have a 10 meter one. Keep posting what you find on this - I'm curious to find what's going on.

Thats pretty long. Even though the cary doesn't have that problem, it doesn't mean nothing else will. Doesn't seem like to many people are having this problem either. I'd try an extender like Tangible stated. of find soime way to bring it out and use a shorter cable and see if it makes a difference.

OK I have done some research if the cable was too long the signal would be messed up also now if by fluke it was the cable it would not only flicker on the 2 brightness setting but the display would flicker in general, that is not the case if I adjust it to 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,1 it does not flicker also if I leave it on the flicker at dim setting 2 does go away so as far as I can tell it has nothing to do with the length of my cable as with HDMI if it was too long I would have other problems related to picture and sound also.

What you report is what I was thinking...I would think that if the cable were the issue that other brightness settings (esp. the lowest ones) would also do it. That it does not makes me think something else is causing the issue.

I e-mailed Emo about a month ago about this problem and got this response Hello,
First of all I am sorry for the issue you are having with your UMC. I have notified our engineer of the issue you are having with your display and he said it is most likely a timing issue between the anode and cathode that are running the display. He will notify our team of engineers to see if that can be resolved with the next firmware update. I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best Regards,
Nick Hetzler

Glad that you are happy with the UMC.
Unfortunately, it still has a problem where it drops one or more channels (5.1) when you shuttle Directv HR21 forward several times. You can recover by changing inputs and then changing back.
UMC does not work at all for me (except for setting distance). I believe that the UMC is getting confused by the dipole surrounds and that may be why it says that my speakers are out of phase. Settings are totally random.
Could someone that knows how to sweep a room, do so before and after emo sets up the system
Interesting note - there is an android app that gives you a real time analyzer. While not very accurate it does allow you to easily see how your room looks after equalization. Comparison between speakers is somewhat accurate and definitely interesting!

No problems here..My only problem with the hr21 I posted a while back, but my issue got resolved, by changing my hdmi cable to a new one from mono and reset box. trial and error. it could have been a hand shake issue, but they are holding hands now. ;D

I know someone else was having the same problem but to find the post would be difficut as the search engine on this site sucks. Just to make sure I an understanding this correctly. When you said display flicker, I thought you were talking about your TV or projector. But from your post I gather you are talking about the VFD ( please correct me if I am wrong here). The VFD drive is completely independant to all the other circuits in the system. I have looked at the VFD on mine at all levels and can't see it flicker but this could just be my eyes. The way it dims is by pulsing the drive on the VFD is this what you are seeing?

Just a heads up to everyone. We will be releasing an upgrade remote for the UMC very soon. All aluminum with discrete input selections. It should be here in a few weeks. ;D This remote will be a must have for me when you guys get around to the "Upgraders" for the UMC-1. Patiently waiting.

I have not used my USP-1 since i have had my UMC-1 running. We should have some make up for the SCREW UP.

No Lonnie the letters are acutally garbled and the VFD is not readable its as if the dots cannot find there place and they flicker from left to right or looks like they have streaks in them.

After the firmware update the unit has improved tremendously. Aside from some of the EmoQ issues that have been discussed ad nauseam in other threads, i am only having one problem with the unit...loss of audio sync.
When I use the DVR to jump ahead or back, usually skipping commercials, the audio sync will sometimes fail. 98% of the time, the audio is fine. 1% of the time the audio is simply gone and I have to change inputs to resync. 1% of the time, only the center channel is missing and I have to change inputs to resync.
This was really bizarre last night watching the Olympics. We could hear all of the event activity like normal, but there was no longer an announcer. It took a few minutes for us to realize it.
Is anybody else experiencing this problem?
