I've added all of the current issues I'm experiencing with the v6 Beta 2 firmware to the tracker form.
For me, the v6 Beta 2 seems to be slightly worse than the v6 Beta 1.

I guess I'll try and install BETA V2 this week to see how it works. Was going to wait for the final version, but since it's not that far away, might as well get some practice.
I was the first customer to receive the UMC-1 and really haven't had much problem with it. I'm just too lazy to keep updating the firmware. ;D

2 ch PCM is coming through distorted via HDMI from my Oppo. Direct is also distorting. This is new since the final beta uprade. Switched from HDMI 1 to 5...still hear it. **update: it appears to be the new CD I just bought. All is well in stereoland! I am having the same problem, not only with CD's playing in my Oppo, but also from SD (2-channel) video on my DirecTV HR-23. Sound is muffled and distorted. This is true for both Stereo and Direct. Switching to PLIIx sounds awesome.

I hope this gets fixed with the next beta udpdate? -CB

That and the dropouts.
Oh, and when I play DVD-Audio disks, the first second of each track gets cut out. Seems to be a problem with the way the UMC-1 is tracking between 5.1 PCM and no audio. The switchover apparently takes too long.
Gotta say, though, this thing sounds fantastic. So smooth.

Not impressed with either of the Beta's. Is anyone having the issue of their remote locking out and not functioning? Seems like if I switch inputs or let it stay idle on an input over time, the remote stops working and the unit has to be reset by switching off the power in the back of the unit, waiting a few seconds then powering it back on. Obnoxious. EMotiva sent me a 2nd unit stating the first one was hardware defective, but the second unit does the exact same thing.........

I've had remote issues since day one. I sent an email to EMOTIVA about it and they sent me a new remote. That didn't fix anything. Now I have 2 remotes that only work occasionally. It is very annoying. I found that if you get up out of your seat and move to withing 3-4' of the UMC-1, the remote will work. I was not offered a replacement UMC-1. My Harmony One has the same problem. I agree it happens when you change inputs. I haven't really noticed it happening if I stay on one input for a long time. I'll have to pay attention to that and see.

The batteries that come with the remote look even cheaper than the remote itself does. ;D

My issue is not due to the remote itself. Its the UMC-1 that stops accpeting remote input commands. It happens whether or not I use the standard EMotiva remote, or my Harmony One. In fact when one remote doesnt work, then none of them do.

My unit isn't always powering down when I click OFF on the remote. It seems to start the process and then just stops with a blank screen and a blue Emotiva button (ie not Amber). Pressing ON and then OFF again does shut it down the second time.
I looked through the tracking log as well as the definitive status thread and noticed that this was reported as fixed on Mar 16 (ie Occasional system lock up on shut down has been corrected) and maybe April 9 as well (ie Power down cycle stability improved).
In case it's related, I'm connected to my XMC-5 with the trigger cable on trigger output 1.
I'm running the latest firmware code (Version 6.0 Beta2 W6.02.00.14).

goodness,
I don't know how any of you can stand not being on Beta 2. The audio lock is just so much better, all the other problems fade into insignificance in comparison.

to all of you who are having remote problems....
Most LCD TV's give off random IR as they warm up....for maybe the first 5 minutes. During that time, your room is filled with IR signals and it is difficult for some remotes to work...even those that come with the device itself. I had a Lexicon DC-2 that would not respond to it's own remote control or a Pronto remote for 5 minutes after I turned on the TV.
This could well be your problem....and it probably has to do with the frequency and coding scheme picked by Emotiva....since some products (eg your set top box) don't seem to be effected.
Not sure that this helps fix the problem....but it may help explain why you are having the problem.

And to add to this, there are known issues with IR signals from things like notebooks with IR ports. A good way to test for these issues is to relocate your device into an electronics free room and test. Or use some notebook paper to wrap around the top of the remote and place it up against the IR sensor on the device. I believe most IR problems can be traced backed to bad batteries or interference.

I love the simplicity of use and setup of the UMC-1 please help a fella out!!!!!!

Is anyone else using a Philips HDTV? It seems that my brand new 47PFL5704D doesn't like video coming from the UMC-1. My sources work direct to the TV, but not with the UMC in the chain. My 4-year-old Samsung 23" works fine however. i am having the same problem with my philips hdtv model 47pfl670d/f7 and i tyred my pc monitor it it worked just fine

Is there a list somewhere of the different bug fixes in each firmware release?

I have a similar problem: when the UMC-1 powers on, it triggers the XPA-5 to power on, but as soon as the amp finishes powering on (all 5 blue lights on/off), it powers off! Totally repeatable.
Then, when I power off the UMC-1, the amp does not power off. So essentially I have to power on/off the amp manually every time.
Has no one else noticed this? I have the trigger output for AMP-1 going out to the XPA-5. Not like there are a lot of ways to screw this up.
In the UMC-1 Setup, I checked to make sure that none of the inputs was triggering the amp off, btw.

Not had that at all and I have 4 amps daisy-chained from AMP-1.

jmargaglione, What cable type are you using for the trigger (stereo or mono). I recall someone mentioning some problems with some stereo cables. As I understand it, only mono cables should be used. I would try another cable just to be sure.
