1,000 watts is just about right for a sub amp. Not all products can meet everyone's needs. I don't b!tch about the subs as I find so many other things to like about Emotiva. This guy should just get the Rythmik and stop waiting for what he hopes is coming. +1, that's what I and a number of others did. You can't wait for ever, nor should you moan at a company for not having the product you want just yet. I will be looking at the X-ref 15 (and indeed maybe an ERS-115 or whatever) whenever they appear if/when I am looking for more subs and comparing with what Rythmik have on offer. I'll be looking for another 2 subs in due course and if the Emotiva offering matches pretty well, they may get a sale. If not, so be it. You buy what is available at the time you need it, at the price point you are happy with, end of story. ;D

Very true. "Corporate greed" is something that never comes to my mind when I think of Emotiva. Theirs is some of the most reasonably priced equipment you can find, especially for the quality that goes into it. Yes, and it's not just the price-quality ratio (which is unbelievable) but also the service. Everything from the packaging to rapid delivery to a generous 5-yr warranty to excellent after-sale care. Hard to find any semblance of greed IMHO. +1

Are the Xrefs level above the ERS subs?

No, the X-Ref subs are in the middle as far a sound quality goes. The ERS subs will be the top of the line offering from Emotiva. The Ultra subs are the entry level subs, followed by the X-Ref subs taking you up a level, and next will be the ERS subs as King of the hill.

I have decided to go with the X-REF 15 because "I know" that it will have at least the same features as the X-REF 12, but just a bigger driver and more powerful plate amp to move more air. I have read somewhere that the ERS line will have outboard amp and I don't have the space for any more amps in my cabinet lest I'm going to have to run a dedicated air condition duct for the cabinet. The 15s will definitely have -3dB at 17Hz or 18Hz and be able to pump out over 102dB at that frequency with inaudible distortion. Just make a few of them with the basic black ash finish to keep the cost down. I don't see my components except through tinted glass. 10 coats of lacquer is not important to me. Did anyone noticed the signature change? Heaven comes to Boca! Thanx Dan. ;D ;D ;D

Wow !!!! Finally, Emo subwoofer has 230 VAC input.
"Input Voltage: 120 VAC 50/60 Hz or 230 VAC 50/60 Hz auto detecting"
Thanks EMO.

I just confirmed on phone with Emo. The Xref. 12 is the same driver as the Ultra 12. Is that good or bad? Same size, same driver, good or bad? Big Dan here... The Xref 12 s NOT the same driver!! The Xref 12 is a brand new drive unit with a high power 3" voice coil assembly, etc, etc. Sorry for any confusion! Thanks for following up on this as I was the one who called and posted the above information... ...Now, how about a Labor Day or XREF holiday sale so I can save a few bucks on an XPA-5 and call it a day! ;D

Too funny, Jamrock! ;D This post from Big Dan has me drooling....perhaps my Ultra subs need to be upgraded to the 15"s. Holy cow, can you imagine what dual 15" subs would sound like!?!? It just so happens that my GF is out of town for a bit and just a short while ago I watched the "Rounders" BD (I picked up yesterday) on my PS3. I have a small amount of music on my PS3, and usually when I pop out a movie I will quickly scroll through some of my music and play some bass heavy stuff, just to listen to the bass. Anyway, I decided on 50 Cent "Candy Shop" (I know...I know) and figured I would have a bit of fun by turning the subs up WAY loud for a quick blasting session. I have to say here folks, that I was really blown away when I did. Normally, I have them set at a level that blends them to my best ability, not too loud but at a nice "solid" level. I kind of forget what levels of output these can actually generate when called upon. With the subs set way too hot, and some Fiddy playing vis HDMI from the PS3...I was transported back to my youth. I was once again sitting in the car...getting a nice massage from my subwoofers. ;D It was nice to be reminded of what the Ultras can do. It makes me a happy owner...but I must admit, the idea of getting more powerful subs...with 1000watt amps, makes me smile...just a bit! ;D Thanks again for the info Dan. That's twice in the same thread you have made me want to give you some more of my money! ;D ;D ;D BTW, if anybody thinks Emotiva are being greedy, they obviously have never attempted to build a true audiophile grade system using gear from other manufacturers. I won't go so far as to call them greedy either, but without Emotiva, I would NEVER have been able to build a system that has the quality of what I have now. NO other company on the planet can touch the quality, specs, and prices (at the same time) that Emotiva has. Sure, there are cheaper gears...but they aren't near as good. There are some gears that outperform some Emotiva gear...but no one can afford them! ;D

Emotiva is one of the least greedy companies I've ever encountered.

Is this the same for the Xref 10.... different driver than the Ultra 10? On a side note, how does the Xref 10 compare to the Ultra 12? Does the DSP in the amp squeeze more extension out of the Xref 10, despite it being a smaller driver than the Ultra 12? Based on the Audioholics measurements of the Ultra 12, it has alot of output above 40Hz, but falls off around 30Hz... I don't need all the output of the 12, but would like comparable or deeper extension... Just curious if the Xref 10 would fit the bill, or if it would still roll off a bit higher than the Ultra 12... Thanks... Count me among those who want to know the answer to these questions. I'm contemplating either the Ultra 12 or X-Ref 10 (X-Ref 12 is priced way too high for me). Now, if Emotiva offers the new X-Ref 12 for a "limited time introductory price" that's the same as the Ultra 12 -- because they want to be nice ;D -- then I'm on the phone this afternoon ordering one!

As you can tell from our site, the product line is being updated and we are working on making every Emotiva product a market leader at their respective price points. We are also very intent on maintaining and expanding the idea of Emotiva as a complete line from end to end. We believe this is critical to the value and long term success of the company.
Dan
I have to say that I love the equipment that that Emotiva offers, For sure the best I have ever owned. When you say that you are expanding on the idea of Emotiva having a complete system end to end does this mean you are looking at producing a Blu-Ray player in the future ?
