For me, it was a couple of years on audioholics and their reviews on emotiva. And the retro look. Finally, it was the price of the LPA-1 was what got me hooked. it was the Ultra 12 that I also read about on AH,I bought one(while still current) and loved it so much,i sold my Paradigm DSP-3200 and bought a second Ultra 12 and absolutley love my bass. I found this forum and liked it as well.

Bob's amps were reasonably priced. Until you factored in the reality of them catching fire in your living room and burning the house down. True story...

I bought my first Emotiva product in early 2009 - an XPA-3 that was reduced in price for a Super Bowl sale. I don't remember how I came across it - I think it was an ad on another audio site. I'd never owned separates before, but the sale price was tempting and so was the watts per channel. I debated and debated and then finally when I decided to buy, the sale was over. I contacted Emo the day the prices went back to normal and asked if I could please still get the sale price and they said yes, so I bought one.
And that was the beginning of my addiction. ;D In addition to the Emo products listed in my signature, others I have owned include: UPA-2, ERC-1, XDA-1, USP-1, 6.2, 6.3 and ERM-1 speakers. I did not sell any of them because I was unhappy with them - I upgraded from the UPA-2; I sold the ERC-1, XDA-1 and USP-1 because I decided to streamline/downsize and didn't really need these components although now I miss them, and for the speakers - I liked them and still think they are very good but I like my present ones better. The latest sale prices on the discontinued line (8.3, 6.3 and 6.2) are nuts - those are incredible bargains!
Oh, and I also have an Emo t-shirt that got retired because I spilled something on it and the stupid spot won't come off. ;D
I am eagerly awaiting the XMC-1, XSP-1 and XDA-2. And am thinking about getting the ERC-2 since it is on sale. I fear I have a1uc-itis. ;D

Emotiva allowed me to move into separates at an affordable price and had more to offer than AVR's.

I heard about Emotiva on another web site, HTGuide and AVS. After reading many different reviews of how well Emotiva amps sounded with B & W speakers one day at work I clicked on the web link at the top of AVS site. After looking at products available I realized they were headquartered in Franklin Tennessee just a mere 90 minutes from my home. One day while on break I decided to drive to Emotiva to purchase an HDMI cable for my new Apple TV device. This is when I met Matt, Dan, Vince and a few others and all of them treated me like I was a family member. I bought my XPA-5 that day and the rest is history.

RLW...that is a pretty rack .. how is that carver C1 working for you? I was looking at that on ebay, it was a modefied one with caps etc... I ended up with a tube buffer. I got introduced to Emo Gear via my Chiropractor. due to my extremely bad back, i was at the Chiropractors office yet again, I think it was 3rd time that week. started thumbing through Men's health magazine, and there it was, short article, rave reviews and nice blue lights! Did some of my own research, and the rest is history

I had a Yamaha RX-V2400 that just didn't seem to drive my polk LSi speakers. I was looking for a new receiver that could handle 4 ohms. Just could not find one to suit me at the price level that I could afford. I stumbled across an Emotiva Ad and investigated. I liked what I read about their amps being all channels all the time. I took the plunge and bought the UPA-7 and tied it the Yami receiver. It made a huge difference. Even my wife noticed that. So I saved and bought the UMCl-1 about a year later. What a difference in sound. I was happy and so was my wife. It is really nice when the wife notices the differences. It makes it easier to upgrade.
One happy emo customer!

I discovered Emotiva while researching everything I could find out about the Marantz SR-8001 receiver. I was on the cusp of purchasing the Marantz when I came across several forums where people were talking about using the SR-8001 as a pre/pro with Emotiva power amps. This lead me to reading everything on the Internet about Emotiva's products. The more I read the more enticed I became.
I then called Emotiva and Big Dan answered the phone. We spent well over an hour discussing Emotiva's product line, their business philosophy and a number of their upcoming products. A couple of days later I called Emotiva again and this time talked with Lonnie. Lonnie and I talked for close to two hours during my first call to him. We talked circuit designs, current products and upcoming products and their expansion plans.
Over the next couple of weeks I called and spoke with Dan and Lonnie several more times before I made my first purchase, the MMC-1 processor and a LPA-1 power amp. During all these calls to Emotiva I was treated like their best customer and Dan and Lonnie patiently answered all my questions and I had yet to spend a single dollar on their products.
Since then Emotiva has found ways to keep their hands in my wallet. ;D I now have a rack full of Emotiva gear in my main system and other Emo gear in my bedroom system. I am on disability and have a modest fixed income. Emotiva's pricing for high quality equipment has allowed me to enjoy high-end sound quality at budget prices..
Now all I have to do is figure out how to pay for the XMC-1, XSP-1 and the XDA-2. Once I have them in my system I may be set for years to come. The only other Emo gear I would be enticed by are the ERS sub woofers and the Emo magnetic drive turntable... or maybe the Emo heavy duty equipment shelf system.
Who knows, by then Lonnie will come up with another irresistible piece of superior sounding gear with a price that even I can afford. Send me your spare nickles and dimes to help a "poor, handicapped senior citizen" continue to enjoy listening to great music. ;D ;D ;D

It was a pleasure meeting them all.

Discovered Emotiva when I bought my RTi12s in 07. Everywhere I read said the 12's require tons of power. Some mentioned pairing their 12's with Emo amps over on AVS. Lurked on the forum and Emo's site for about 6 months. Finally decided to get the ISP-1 when they were phasing them out. Called on a Monday in Jan of 08 and they said that the last one was sold the week before. Bummed. Got the LPA-1 instead and the rest of the story is in my sig .

I actually discovered Emotiva because of my interest in blu-rays. That re-sparked my interest in home theater and ultimately led me here. I had joined another forum that focuses on blu-ray movies and technology. I was thinking to myself that I wanted to put together a new HT and decided to do some research on setting up a home theater. Initially, I was going to get an Onkyo HTIB, then I had decided to skip the HTIB route and wanted to get a decent receiver. I had been lurking around on the other forum and they have "master lists" of manufacturers that make specific gear types. I then read about these things called separates. Separates? What are those? How do they work? How do you hook them up? Seriously, these were the questions I was asking. When beginning to research separates, it didn't take long for me to realize the prices of separate component systems (not to mention the speakers) were more than my budget could bear, and (by that time) I had fallen in love with the idea of getting a Pioneer Elite receiver with ICE amps in it. Well I kept doing more reading and research, and then discovered this brand called Emotiva that sold separate components at budget prices. What? These guys are selling amps at prices I can afford? I MUST check them out. Shortly thereafter, I discovered the lounge. I signed up and stayed in the "stupid questions" section of the forum for quite a while. Flash forward to today and I have formerly owned the USP-1, dual UPA-1s, and currently own dual Ultra Sub 12s, dual XPA-1s, and an XPA-5 with plenty more planned purchases to come as future products get released. Cliffs: Wanted to build a new HT due to BD renewing interest. Did research and discovered Emotiva on another forum.
