For me, it was a couple of years on audioholics and their reviews on emotiva. And the retro look. Finally, it was the price of the LPA-1 was what got me hooked.

For me it was walking into a client's house and seeing some cool looking and great sounding gear with a brand name I had never heard of before, and doing some research.

I was looking for the cheapest reciever/AVR that was above 80 watts. I was about to settle on a harmon kardon. I stumbled upon this site and bought the UPA-2 with trepidation. What attracted me was the all channels driven statement and the bold claims that these will best avr's. Needless to say, they were great when I got them.

As a newbie to this site I would say: If you want to get picket on (in a good sense - but sometimes a little harsh) this is the place to be Regards

I have always looked for the best bang for the buck in Audio/Video equipment and read about them on the old AV123 site and liked what I saw eventhough I did not purchase anything from AV123 (thank goodness). I needed an amp and decided what the heck. Bought the XPA-3 (twice now) and I like the looks, the sound and the quality and especially the price. Now hurry up XMC-1. Bet yall didn't see that coming. lol

I first read about Emotiva on an Australian audio/visual forum. That was November 2009. I now have a nice collection of Emo gear.

I was looking for receiver reviews....on SECRETS, as I recall. Saw an add for the LPA-1/LMC-1 combo for under $800 (the price range of my receiver) and said, "Zoinks! I can move into separates for the price of a mid-line receiver!" Read up on Emo products/company philosophy, and the rest is musical history.

For me, it was reading a review on Audioholics than mentioned the price / performance ration of Emotiva amplifiers. Never looked elsewhere. I still look for an Audioholics review of any component In which I'm interested

I'm a bang-for-buck kinda guy. Having sold hi-end gear before, I *knew* that you didn't have to spend stupid money to get great sound. But, you do have to know what you're looking for and be *patient*. Bought a UMC-1 and exchanged it for a properly-working unit. Now that I've updated to the 7.04.00.19 firmware I'm quite happy with my purchase. And, oh yeah, the 40% off card factored heavily in my decision-making process. If the XMC-1 is as good as I think it will be, my system will be complete.
Well, actually, once I have the XMC-1 and a Velodyne 12" subwoof, I will jump off the merry-go-round for another decade or so...

It started out as curiosity for me. I was interested in trying a brand new amplifier. I had previously owned mainly used gear. I was reading reviews on different amps and ran across an ad for Emotiva. When I looked at their amps I fell in love with the looks of the RPA-1. I spent a couple of days hunting down reviews and could find no bad reviews at all on it. I pulled the trigger and that was it. From their I purchased an RSP-1, ERC-1 and ERC-2. I'm currently running a USP-1 (switching between it and a refurbed Carver C-1) until the XSP-1 is released. You might say I'm hooked.

I was an a late comer to AV123 and when I got that gut feeling that I shouldn't deal with AV123 on a sub(thankfully I listened to that inner voice), I waited on Dan Laufman to pack up camp and move to Franklin, TN. Well the rest is history!
