For me it was my Father (geebo). I do not yet have my hands on my own Emoquipment (with the exception of my wonderful HDMI cables, speaker ped, and coffee cups. LOL) But as soon as the time is right... Hey welcome to the Lounge! My suggestion is that your dad needs to sit down and talk to you about the facts of life - that we are all here to help Emotiva continue to produce equipment. ;D If you are unsure about anything I suggest your dad pass along his current setup to you (since he is already familiar with it and can use it as an excellent teaching example) and that he just get new gear for himself. That seems like the least he could do. Trust me, every time we sit down we talk of the things we love. Most of which are movies and music which quickly translate into my father passing on his knowledge to me. (Memories irreplaceable)

What? You mean to tell me your dad hasn't bought you any Emo gear yet? What kind of dad is that? He only owns every thing that Emo makes ;D. I keep telling my 15 year old son that I am going to build him a killer system but then I remember that would mean it would take away from building my system ;D Welcome to the lounge. Well, everything that I currently have in my living area (Amplifier, 5.1 speakers and my 55" tv) I wouldn't have, had it not been for him. However, I am first in line (I hope) for his umc-1 when the xmc-1 comes out. And as far as building your son a system... You can give a man an Emotiva syetem, but if you taught him to build one for himself.... So true. I do plan on building one with him, actually been looking into speaker kits lately, probably get him one for xmas. I have great memories of me and my dad working on our cars together, he still has his antique 1960 Ford Starliner that he cruises with that I helped him restore which will be mine someday. Also helped him with the house I grew up in adding 3 apartments to a 3 family which comes in very handy now with my properties. Great memories, my dad taught me alot.

Yeah, from photography to home theater to everything life, my Dad has taught and still teaches me A LOT!!! Great thing is, he made me learn through hands on and hard lessons as much as through his words. I wasn't always as a child, but I am more than grateful now that I have 3 of my own and I see what he was trying to do. He helped shape my character as great fathers do. (tip my hat)

Mine works with me at my business and helps me with my apartments and I also take my 9 year old along once in a while to help out. Deja Vu ;D

I don't have to "butter" you up, because how would you tell everyone that your own son still doesn't have any Emoquipment come next Emofest? So you see, my only motivations here are to brag on my WONDERFUL Father and to relay the truth about what a great individual you are all around.

For me the Internet.
Though I wish we could dispense with the constant reference to dollars with emo products. It really is a great product and that's where it ends for me. Bang for your buck like statements detract from this simple fact.
Just a personal thing :-)

What brought me to Emotiva was a pair of speakers. My Thiel 3.6 speakers absolutely REFUSED to produce tight, tuneful bass with any of the amplifiers I tried them with. The line of failures included:
Jolida 100 watt tube/solid-state hybrid integrated amp Audio Research 100 watt solid state power amp Crown PS-400 pro-sound power amp Yamaha receiver (didn't expect it to even before trying it)
I finally decided I needed a "super amp" to run the darn things. They have very low impedance, very complicated crossovers, very weird phase-angles, and VERY mushy bass with any amp that doesn't make them sit up and behave.
After looking at the current range and price of used super-amps, I decided to try the cheapest one on the market - The Emotiva XPA-2. I'd never heard (or even heard of) Emotiva at this point, but figured that for the price, I couldn't lose.
Whoa! The XPA-2 compared in the middle of the pack with other super amps that I've previously owned (including models by Bryston, McIntosh, and Audio Research). The XPA-2 amp is killer regardless of price, and I'll give it up when they pry my cold, dead ears off of it.
Since then, I've played with other Emotiva products, but none has blown me away more than my XPA-2. I notice that the audiophile mags have avoided reviewing any of the big Emotiva amps in order not to embarrass their advertisers. What a shame... The audiophile consumer's friend be EMOTIVA!

Boomzilla, I'm surprised you didnt go for the XPA-1. It is also a hard to drive speaker that led me to emotiva.. then I change to an even more difficult to drive speakers!

I've been looking to upgrade my speaker system by searching avs and hts for a month and kept clicking on the Emotiva ad. Those little blue lights are hard to ignore. I kept thinking to myself, wow these things are sexy but I don't need an amp...my Denon's been around 12 years... it's been great to me.... Last night I checked out every item on your site :} I'm hooked!!!! I gotta have it!!! I need it!!! So today I'm starting my Emotiva savings fund... UMC-200 you're first!!
