Yes Wiz, very nice. Way faster than me! I'm hoping to post a completed speaker this weekend.
Tell me about your active crossover?

Ok, I know I've been slow!!!!!! Cabinets are done, prepping the drivers. I assembled the horns at lunchtime. Man these drivers are heavy! Part of the delay was designing a support system in the cabinet. 8 lbs hanging on the end of a plastic horn is otherwise just an accident waiting to happen.

I'll be interested in what you think of those Faital compression drivers. Is that the new 2" model?

I'll be interested in what you think of those Faital compression drivers. Is that the new 2" model? No, it's the 1.4" inch model. I would have liked to have used the 2" model, but this would have increased the speaker width to over 20". Too wide for what I wanted.

This system should sound pretty nice.

Horn supports are mounted. After break going to start wiring. Almost forgot, I need something to wire to! Using duals to make it easier to bi-amp if I ever decide I want to try it. Also need to connect independently to run the impedance sweeps.

These are going to be the crossovers. They are being designed by Al Klappenberger of ALK Engineering. Close to 100dB/ Octave design. Component values will different to match my drivers, but not much!

I sent Al at ALKENG the impedance sweeps for the dual woofers and the horn Sunday. Today he sent me a first pass of the crossover design with calculated response data. He calls these crossovers extreme slope crossovers. Note how quickly the drivers drop off on each side of the crossover point 700Hz. Note 10dB/div.

It's threads like this that made me put so many disclaimers and caveats in my 18" sub thread. All I did was select some parts that others had proven to work together and bolt everything up. Cheaper than buying pre-made, and better performing too.
But you guys that design your own cabinets, crossovers, and even design software! Well, my hats off to you.

My first build, which was my subs, was exactly what you did. 10 Years ago the NHT1259 was all the rage with the DIY sub groups. I got a couple of 3 cu. ft. cabinets from Parts-Express and drilled a few holes. I needed an amp with some power, so I got the Anthem on a good deal. They have been and are great subs. Who knows what you might be building next? DIY is a fun disease!

It is looking good. Not sure my wife would ever let me use the kitchen like that. How'd you pull that one off? Hope the cross overs come in early.
