I don't post gear in my sig because it changes frequently. Right now here's my 3 main systems:
Living room HT, which we use the most: Sony 52" XBR, Marantz AV7005 pre/pro, Emotiva UPA7 amp, Sony BRD S770 blu ray, DirecTV Genie DVR, Apple TV, DIY VAMP audio player with JDS ODAC, Belkin PF60 power center, DIY OB 4-way mains and DIY OB 2-way center channel with stereo Shiva subs driven by M&K amplification, IB using two Exodus Maelstrom 21" driven by Crest ProLite 3.0, Sonance Z4 side surrounds, DIY 2-way in-ceiling rear surrounds.
Office 2-channel system: Computer front end, DIY integrated class-T amp with Pass Labs B1 input buffer, Grant Fidelity DAC and headphone amp, Sennheiser HD800 headphones, DIY 2-way speakers with Exodus Anarchy woofer and Audience A3 full-rangers.
2-channel system: Shindo Cortese amp, VTL 2.5 preamp, Squeezebox Touch through a Kora Hermes II DAC, NorthStar 192 CD player, DIY subwoofer with 18" Maelstrom driver and Face Audio amp, currently using DeVore Silverback speakers.
And I'm putting together a garage system with another Squeezebox, another set of DIY speakers, and probably an Emotiva mini-X amplifier.

Thanks Dyohn. Just curious! I can see how that would make a rather long sig!
FYI, the Exodus Shiva is back for sale. Hoping the Maelstrom will follow next year.
I've decided that this build is not going to replace my current HT mains. Rather, I'm going to set up a 2 channel only system in the living room. My UMC-1 and Bryston 2BLP will be the initial power source.

Must be fun to play with all of that!

Before we moved to AZ I had a dedicated 2-channel room with full treatments featuring Krell LAT-1 loudspeakers and Halcro mono amps and preamp and an esoteric turntable made by Brinkmann. I sold those parts of the rig to pay off my AZ mortgage before we moved.

Well, I'm getting back on track. I just returned from Cozumel, Mexico where I was scuba diving with the family. Great time doing 22 dives over 11 days which ended up at 20+ hours underwater! I just got word this morning that the crossovers are almost done and will ship next week. This picture is the actual crossovers missing a couple of parts: I also found a couple of nice little tables to be used as speaker stands. They are the perfect height bringing the horn exactly to seated ear level. I'm going to paint them gloss black. I ordered and received a new XDA-2 to serve as the pre in this system along with a used UPA-500 as the starting power amp. I decided I didn't want to separate the Bryston from the UMC-1 being used in my office. I'm thinking that a pair of XPA-1Ls may be the ticket as the final amps. With the efficiency of these guys the 1Ls would seldom come out of class A.

Now, Mr. Elliot -
Your babies resemble the Klipsch CF series in terms of their D'Appolito configuration. Was that deliberate on your part? If so, what benefits do you anticipate?
Also, since I haven't chimed in on this thread yet, might I add my kudos to all the props previously given - You've done a NICE job!
Please continue to update the thread - I'm hooked!

Boomzilla Boom, I gave my design criteria in the very first post of this thread. Neither the Heresy or the Cornwall have the big open mid-range sound that the LaScala and KHorn have. I do have to say that I'm hoping the polar response improves with the "D'Appolito" type configuration. This started as just an idea. I've always wanted to design and build a set of speakers. Well, my OCD grabbed hold and I'm now $3K into it just for parts and having the cabinets built. They will require subs in the long run as the dual 12" K28s won't go any lower than a Heresy III, but I will get the gain boost. I'm praying this doesn't turn into "Elliot's Folly", but even if it does the ride has been a blast. Chuck

I am not loving the look of the stands. If you like that look, I would suggest stands without the shelf or the top, just the apron and legs. The apron would need to be wider, maybe 4" to 6", to retain rigidity without the shelf. For a simple look the outside corners of the legs might align with the outside corners of the speaker. Another look would be to align the apron with the speaker sides moving the legs further out, giving the appearance that the speaker sat "in" the stand. Buy some legs that strike your fancy from Osborne: www.osbornewood.com/End-Table-Legs.cfmA bit of plywood to match the speakers for the apron and a pocket hole jig and you'd be good to go. I would finish the legs so that they provide some contrast with the speakers. I bet you could even talk me into machining the apron pieces if we could work out the material selection and dimensions. Actually, this idea is way better than the crappy design I was going to throw together for _my_ Heresy speakers.

Did I misread your post?
I read I am going to paint them gloss black.
I thought you meant, I am going to stain them to match, or contrast. Or maybe I am going to stain then antique or pickle them.
The stands are a little diminutive for the speakers. Maybe you could slightly enlarge the tops so that the speakers don't hang over. A piece of one by nailed to the edge all the way around would be simple and would make the tables look a little more substantial.
Osborne makes some purty leggies too...

Stands? We don' need no stinkin' stands! Put them on top of their subwoofers like you did the original Heresys!

Stands? We don' need no stinkin' stands! Put them on top of their subwoofers like you did the original Heresys! Exactly, but you can only bleed so much cash in one fiscal year! These stands at $39 each are fillers until next year when I'll make some new subs for this system. I've been thinking something in a trapezoidal shape that comes up to the mains in a taper - we'll see.
