I like big subs. These subs don't spec amazingly well in THD or take out your wall but they do get low and do it decently. www.axiomaudio.com/ep-600-subwoofer Anechoic response -1.5db @17hz Room response -3db @15 hz. $1900 w 5 year warranty and shipping included. The ep800 which is sealed and two twelve inches gets lower anechoically. But it is expensive.

"Is it ported or sealed? What size? How much power? What type of finish? Features and such. "
Sealed, small (less than 1ft cube), plenty of power, with wireless (include transmitter please) for under 1k that can actually play low. Basically I like the smaller def tech super cube size (I have two now) but they do not go low enough.

I would love a pair of sealed subs, 17" cubes or smaller, with 12" or 15" woofers, capable of playing into the low 20's, at a price point below $1200 for the pair. Finish is not important, flat or matte black is fine.

Hello Lonnie, I can appreciate the difficulties it presents to design a sub that keeps everyone and every room happy. However, if its possible to give us users the option to change things around it may keep more of us smiling plus changing the "flavour" of our systems time to time can be fun Ported or Sealed: Both! IMHO letting us have the choice to configure this to our ears would be great! Size: Whatever is optimal for performance. I do respect the fact that some people need compact designs. Power: No set number but the amp needs to sound musical, have speed, iron fisted control of the driver(s) and the ability to play loud without sounding strained or distorted.......kind of sounds like a XPR-1? You're the engineer and I'm confident you'll design the appropriate amp to do the job. Finish: I would rather have a higher quality drive unit(s)/amplifier/cabinet than a premium finish. Features: 13"- 15" very high quality drive unit such as a Rohacell sandwich cone capable of really reaching down low into pipe organ territory yet agile. If it's feasible perhaps an electromagnetic motor?? Front firing and only what's necessary control wise to blend the sub in with a system. Price: I know this is a lot to ask but $1000-$1200?? Can't wait to see the new subs!

For me, reasonable size and true 20Hz performance, and hopefully sub $1000.

Finish is not important, flat or matte black is fine. Good luck finding a pair with those requirements and price that play very loudly. Maybe 2 of the SVS SB-1000, but marginal. Why not go for one sub at that price like Rythmik F15 or HSU ULS-15, for example. You have probably heard that two subs are always better. I would rather have one excellent sub than two entry level subs. Perhaps you have a pre-pro like the Emotiva UMC-200 that has a multi PEQ to flatten out the sub response. If you are like me and have only one main seat then that might be fine. Some food for thought.

I already built a DIY sub with a 15" driver in a 4+cf ported enclosure (for under $400) to handle the ultra low bass. I want something sealed and musical that doesn't need to play super low or super loud. Ideally I want two smaller subs flanking the speakers and my other sub sits behind the listening area and is crossed at 50hz.
