Dear Lounge Members and Guests,
While I was in Nashville this past week, my first of many trips, I did an overview of the forum and began making a list to address all of your concerns. Many of you suggested that we move to vBullitin, which is something I looked into and even inquired about. However, because Emotiva has used ProBoards for so long (so, so long) it would be close to, if not completely impossible to migrate the thousands of pages to vBullitin without any errors. So the decision was made, by me, to stick with ProBoards (you can hate on me, I can take it). I then began working with the people at ProBoards on a new look and feel for our forum. We created a "dummy" or beta site away from curious eyes where I was doing some testing. This was Wednesday of last week. I quite liked some of the back end admin stuff and thought that v.5 of ProBoards would be a welcomed addition to the Emotiva Forum. It is my thought that some of the folks at ProBoards took my positive remarks and suggestions towards v.5 as a sort of go-ahead to port v.5 over to the existing forum. I cannot confirm if this is EXACTLY what happened, or if I had inadvertently agreed to change to v.5 by launching a secret beta site. Regardless, the forum got switched to v.5 while I was at THE Show and it is not going back. So, any confusion, frustration, regret or anger should be directed at me and me alone for this was my doing/mistake -depending on how you choose to look at it.
Now, the plan was to get v.5 in beta looking sexy for the big unveil. Since that is NOT what happened, we're going to have to morph it into something awesome in plain sight. You will be able to use the forum as we're doing this but understand, that in the not to distant future the day-to-day look and vibe of the forum may change. Also, new features and/or custom features may come online. I and the team at Emotiva will be trying to make the transition quick and painless, but understand the move to v.5 -accident or not -occurred ahead of schedule so a little catch up is going to be in order.
Know that I hear your voices, I'm taking your criticism and comments into consideration and want to give you the BEST experience possible. The best way to help me help you is to keep the comments to the point and to keep them constructive. It is sometimes hard to get to the meat of a suggestion when I have to wade through personal feelings or vitriol. It is never our/my intention to frustrate or cheat anyone out of an experience he or she wants. I want everyone to love the forum and to enjoy the conversations that take place here. I just want to bring it into the present and perhaps make it a bit easier to use and interact with day to day.
So once again, sorry for the confusion and/or frustration. Wasn't my intention to get off to such a rocky start but what are you gonna do now? So we forge ahead.
