WOW ...!!!!!! Andrew, are these going to be available before or after the XMC-1,.. ? I noticed the XRT 6.2 are no longer available on the website. Someone bought the last pair !!!. I am still waiting for my XRT 5.2, but I'll grab me a pair of these new speakers in a heart beat. Is there a sign up list? I believe Dan said "a taste of things to come," what that means in terms of a release date only Dan knows. Suppose that's why he also said, "ask me no questions."

I guess the adage "you can't please all the people all the time" is true. I *LOVE* the look of these. Outstanding. Nailed it.
However, unlike everyone else in this thread, I'm really pretty done with passive speakers. My time with the Adam Column Mk3 (as well as with my airmotivs, at a different level) as well as some reading that I did convinced me of the greatness of actively crossed-over drivers. They're also so much more convenient and space efficient vs. having to buy and have however many huge outboard amps.
Granted, I'd also rather have seen some sort of AMT or other planar tech handling midrange duties here, as well as a sealed box (not ported) design.

Sweet looking!!! Was hoping for bigger drivers like dual 12s or 10s at least. Maybe I'll wait on purchasing some Pendragon than. Thanks for the pic

Great peak photo. That looks impressive from the photo. Hard to see clearly but I just hope that is not a piano gloss finish. Seems like it might be a nice lacquer with some modest shine (perfect).

I no longer want to buy the old reference tower speakers now. I'm holding out for these.
Awesome, Dave.

OK - Speculation time... Looking closely at the photo, the two lower "woofers" seem just a hair smaller than the top one. This brings up numerous possible explanations:
The top may be the active driver and the bottom two passive radiators (although this seems unlikely since there's a port) The top may be a midrange driver and the bottom two woofers The top may be a coaxial driver ala KEF and the bottom two woofers (you can't really see into the heart of darkness, there)
Also, estimating from the tweeter size, the drivers may be anywhere from seven to ten inch diameter. If the latter, then that's a BIG tweeter.
If it IS a big tweeter, then the crossover frequency may be significantly lower than with a normal two way. If, on the other hand, it is a "normal" size Stealth tweeter, then these are some munchkin-sized towers.
Anyone else able to tell anything from the photo? (Yes, I know Dan looks spiffy, but I'm talking about the speaker photo...) LOL

I too was trying to glean information from the photo. The blacked out background makes this difficult, and with no sense of size of scale, it's tough to determine the size of the tweeter, or woofers.
Upon first glance, I thought the three drivers were all the same size, now that you have pointed it out, the top woofer does look slightly larger than the two bottom ones. If that is indeed the case, it leads me to believe they are true 3-way speakers with the ribbon tweeter, top driver for a midrange, and two bottom drivers working together to deliver the low end.
Does anyone else think the boxes look like they curve in a bit as it goes to the back of the box? Ala Andrew Jones designed Pioneer speakers, but not to the same degree as those curve in? Maybe it's just me who sees it like that?

I'm glad they're front ported as that allows placement closer to the wall behind. I'm also not too keen on a piano-gloss finish. A matte sheen is just fine IMHO.

Okay, you have sucked me into the obsessive photo evaluation.
The tweeter appears to be the smaller of the two sizes that are on the current lines. That makes me doubt that the drivers are as big as some of you are projecting.

Hope springs eternal! That teaser photo has started to wake up the "drool gland". Bring out a t-shirt showing a picture of the speaker on the back and a picture of a bib on the front saying Emotiva Delivers... with the bib in the middle and Emotiva on top and Delivers under the bib. You could sell it as "The Drool Shirt" in the speaker section. lol Thank you Big Dan!!!!

The other thing I notice about the photo is that there is no apparent attempt to create time-alignment between the drivers. Some companies (Thiel) slope their front panels and use first-order crossovers with additional crossover components to adjust phase of the wave launch. Other companies (the majority) don't think it matters and ignore it. Although I find Thiel speakers exceptionally coherent, it isn't a night and day difference to me. I also notice that there is no apparent attempt (beyond slightly recessing the drivers) to minimize face diffraction of the sound launch. Some companies (Vandersteen) try to minimize the cabinet surface about the divers to eliminate reflections. The Emotiva Stealth speakers also bevel away the cabinets from the drivers for this purpose. Yet on the speaker in the photo, no such beveling is apparent. This may be of greater import. One of the cleanest imaging speakers I've ever heard was the (rare) Avalon Symbol: However, such cabinets are far, far more expensive to produce, and the benefits are still debatable. Finally, the height of the speaker seems inadequate for tall listeners. Since Dan's no small person himself, perhaps this isn't an issue either. I'm sure the speaker will be voiced in a way that overcomes the physical heights of the drivers. My current Paradigms, for example, are almost five feet tall and when seated, I'm below the tweeter by a significant amount. Despite this, the treble sounds fine. Therefore, I'm assuming that Paradigm did something in the crossover to adjust phasing between the woofer and tweeter such that off-axis response (and even response below the tweeter taking into account lobeing from woofer interactions) works well. So many questions, so few answers. Time will tell...

I'm probably going to get fired for this, but I've managed to get a hold of a few specs... Frequency response: Yes Efficiency: There is some Nominal impedance: Yes to all Recommended amplifier power: Any Emotiva amplifier (surprised?) Input connectors: It has them Driver complement: You're so kind Bass alignment: Straight Crossover: You can use them for music AND movies Crossover frequency: How ever much you prefer to watch music and movies Size: Somewhere between a stapler and an elephant Weight (each): How rude. BTW, you didn't get this info from me.
