I have a question - are the quotes you guys are getting in USD or AUD? Thanks Paying in AUD but we are shown USD. We are actually saving money paying in AUD they tell us. Bongo are adding around 12% to the actually exchange rate too. Basically stealing I reckon. My bank adds about 2% for currency conversion which I think is still stealing.

2% is actually pretty good, that's usually pretty close to the wholesale buy/sell spread. 12%, on the other hand, is simply theft as you say. I never ever pay in AUD, always in local currency and my credit card gives me really good rates. If I used paypal rates, or (heaven forbid) Bongo's rates, I'd be broke by now.

Is there a better option than comgateway? I am looking to import some XPA-1Ls to Malaysia. Even though comgateway is about US$30 cheaper per unit compared with Bongo it is still quite high.
Thanks.

What a pity my emotiva buying days look like they are over with this new shipping. The shipping was always pretty reasonable until now Quote to Canberra Australia for one XPA-2 Gen2......ouuuuuuch Under the old freight use to arrive as per the express below and I am sure was less than half the price? International Economy (9-10 day transit) 356.81 AUD International Express (5-7 day transit) 461.73 AUD Any possibility of going back to the good old days of fedex shipping prices Emotiva???

Yep it's stopped me buying the following;
3 x XPA-1L 1 x XSP-1 1 x ERC-3
I'd even decided just to replace my ERC to the ERC3 and put that thru on its own - $730 delivered and that's including 10% E-club discount and removing the insurance.
They are losing my money and lots more from this part of the world. I can't believe a relatively light weight (in comparison) CD player can cost 30% more to ship than my 37kg XPA-5 did at the time.

I wanted some rack ears, Bongo wanted way more than the cost of the ears.
Bongo really stuffed up another order of mine, they are hopeless.
They even tried to consolidate some of the goods into one of my other boxes and along the way removed some of the protective packaging and the 5 channel amp got damaged!
I want to continue to buy from Emotiva, but I refuse to use Bongo!!! They charge you their full price to ship multiple items yet repackage the goods and consolidate them to save them money, yet you still pay their full rate.
My next order from Emotiva will not go through Bongo rip off. I will have to find another way, maybe through My US. www.myus.com/en/landing/?gclid=CO2Nyb33rcACFUMIvAodVyYAPw&aid=1000721&kwid=98986&ef_id=Ua6JmwAAAQvMpKE7:20140825075225:s
I just wish Emotiva would dump Bongo! Their gear is amazing, Bongo is the pits.

Has anyone made known their displeasure with the new and improved shipping pricing to Emotiva? I too was looking at a couple of XPA-1Ls, but the shipping cost put a stop to them :-(

So out of curiosity, what's the landing price of the XMC in $AUD, with the 40% discount, via bongo to Aus?

As Emotiva stated the following in this thread: 'Shipping direct and using Bongo for our checkout saves our customers money in conversion, warehousing and fulfillment fees. Also, it would only serve the EU nations, so after searching and considering several solutions, this was the best for our customers by far . Pricing is awesome, hope you all check it out. Enjoy!' A reply from Emotiva to explain why this Bongo disaster is the best for overseas customers, seems to be in place.

Also the answer really doesn´t explain why there first was an European warehouse in development and being stocked, than the sudden turnaround. Just out of curiositiy I would like to know the reasons for this sudden change of strategy.
Bongo really isn´t a replacement for this, as well as being inferior to the old "quote + FedEx" method.

So out of curiosity, what's the landing price of the XMC in $AUD, with the 40% discount, via bongo to Aus? From our local forum Emotiva thread; XMC-1: US$1,999.00 - 40% = US$1,199.40 Freight: US$238.20 (that's to a guy in Tasmania) Total: US$1,437.60 At 93 cents exchange rate = A$1,545.00 + GST @ 10% A$154.50 = A$1700. Cheers Gary

You may well use a 93c exchange rate, but that isn't what Bongo uses. Currently the rate being used is 91.2, which isn't terrible but it isn't good. What I absolutely must have is an option to pay in USD, for both the unit and the freight - I refuse to be gouged on exchange rates by the freight company, and at the moment there doesn't seem to be an option to pay in local currency.
Also, there is no guarantee that we aren't going to get hit with customs duty; just because it bears a "Made in USA" label doesn't mean it automatically qualifies to walk through customs under the FTA.
ETA: For what it's worth, I just compared freight charges via the emo site and Bongo directly, for a UMC-200 because it has the boxed weight and dimensions. Working back to a USD value and using USD only on bongo, and it's the same number, USD147.
So, if anyone knows the shipping stats of the XMC, we can get a quote direct from Bongo for it.

I have not place an order for new gear since emo brought in the new system ... I did notice that I could not pay in usd myself.. that is also a major issue with me aswell.. I have my own currency conversion machine!!! I don't need to be giving away my money... I also and very liquid in Canadian and US dollars.. having bank account and cc accounts in both as well.. its kind of insulting to me... cheers..

You may well use a 93c exchange rate, but that isn't what Bongo uses. It wasn't me (I live in Sydney) quoting 93 cents it was wfdtamar on the DTV Forum (he lives in Tasmania). From memory 93 cents was the Bongo rate a few days ago when the bank rate was close to 95 cents. So the (over and above bank) Bongo margin @ ~ 2cents appears fairly constant. I buy lots of race car hardware from the US and I have never ever been charged duty on items that are genuinely made in the USA. Honestly that would be the least of the reasons why I am not happy with the current system. In order; 1. Substantially higher freight costs than previously 2. Slower delivery times 3. Damage possibilities (I never had one item damaged via FedEx) 4. Unfavourable exchange rates 5. No ability to buy in USD and ship to Australia 6. GST (due to #1, #4 & #5 above getting an item under the $1K exemption is much harder to achieve). 7. Daylight 8. Possible need to reclaim duty if Australian Customs incorrectly charge it Cheers Gary

I have just ordered a Fusion receiver to France with a 40% coupon and I was told that in order to use the digital coupon I had to have the old manual way of quote and direct shipping. So that's what they did, through UPS this time, with cheaper freight than bongo, duty and VAT will be on top of this on delivery, but that's to be expected, and I'm pretty sure it will also be cheaper than bongo.
So if you want to use a 40% off coupon for an XMC-1, send an email to sales, maybe they'll have to do a direct quoting.
Also bongo is just a reshipper as is shipito, you can try to use another on, using the US address the reshipper sevice give you, it might be cheaper than bongo.
