From another forum :
"When I called Emotiva to delay my order (a few days ago), I was told the $100 upgrade for Dirac may or may not happen. If it does not happen, the product becomes even more of a boat anchor."
Is that true - if so it would be very dissapointing ?
Just trying to nip rumors in the bud before they become internet "Fact"...

I would guess that they are talking about the upgrade from one version of Dirac to a different version (more/custom curves)... not that the XMC won't have Dirac at all.

Isn't the op talking about the $100 extra to have three curves instead of only one?

Right - multiple adjustable target curves Vs single fixed target curve.
Dirac itself should be arriving in the next 2 weeks with the next firmware upgrade - they said they were on target at they LA roadshow.

I wonder if this caller spoke to the same Emotiva Rep that told other callers the XMC was never going to ship. Boy Big Dan should really find out who is so misinformed and get them a Q&A so they don't start so many issues on the forums. Granted not everyone posts or belongs to this forum, but if someone would call Emotiva and were told something like that, I would think they would then post to this forum. Or better yet, if someone were to call and be told Dirac wasn't happening, it would be the first time that one caller to Emotiva was told something without Big Dan making an announcement either on the forums, in a podcast, or at a Road Show (that I can remember). My confidence in this 'rumor' being correct... ZERO!

they said they were on target at they LA roadshow. The question is "what target" they are aiming for... By the way: The DIRAC full version of MiniDSP will cost $250,-

FWIW: I've an XMC-1 in my rack and I'm VERY satisfied with it thus far - sounds absolutely stunning compared to using my Oppo 103D as a pre.
Just trying to clear up a rumor that the upgrade to allow for multiple adjustable curves isn't going to happen...
Not that Dirac itself isn't going to be implemented - that looks to be nicely on track from what we've heard recently.

By the way: The DIRAC full version of MiniDSP will cost $250,- In fairness that price is actually $599 if you don't already have a mic and want a Dirac multichannel license.... Plus another box to sit on the rack Vs just enabling multiple target curves on the XMC-1 for $99

Single post over at AVSForum... which has seems to have some pretty un-objective posters that seem to have a chip on their shoulders about Emotiva for whatever reason.

Someone's reporting being told by an Emotiva employee that a feature I was looking forward to using has been canceled - I'm asking for clarification that's all. If someone doesn't ask for clarification it'll become an internet "fact" on the forums - I thought I made it pretty clear in my original post I just wanted to know what's going on from Emotiva's end and give them a chance to clarify and clear up the misconception. I've already put cash in Emotiva's pocket for an XMC-1, XPR-5 and a Mini X A-100 all of which I'm very happy with - I'm hardly out to stir sh*t.

I think your speading rumors bro... gossip sucks bro.. He's not spreading rumors, he's asking a question and clearly stating his reason. This is has been the topic of some interest this evening based on a conversation someone claims to have had with an Emotiva employee. The person who posted this originally on AVS was quite interested in the XMC-1 a few months ago, but has become progressively more skeptical over the last couple of months. Despite his skepticism, he doesn't strike me as the person who would make something up out of thin air. My guess (hope?) is that it was simply poor communication between the Emotiva employee and the potential customer. I'd love to hear from an Emotiva employee whether there's still a plan to sell an upgraded version of Dirac that allows you the ability to edit the target curve. Editability is key (and worth paying a bit more for), as it's one of the things that sets Dirac apart.

In fairness that price is actually $599 if you don't already have a mic and want a Dirac multichannel license.... Plus another box to sit on the rack Vs just enabling multiple target curves on the XMC-1 for $99 The biggest problem with the MiniDSP unit is that it sits in the wrong place in the audio chain. Bass management and decoding should happen *before* the EQ, not after.

I could call and get an answer - and then it's another anonymous poster on the internet saying "Well I heard that's not true".
A clear concise answer from Emotiva staff here clears it all up for everyone with no room for BS - and note the post was a question not a statement.
I'm digging the XMC-1 a LOT and was looking forward to purchasing this Dirac upgrade.

Hopefully it's not true. But I don't think this thread should exist. I could start one right now with false info that I heard from a (a single!) poster and emo has no obligation to respond to false info. But it would still hurt sales and that's why I object to it on emo's private forum. A private call would be more appropriate. I understand the OP's intentions but regardless of intentions, this could hurt sales imo.
