I'm sorry but 'where' you spread a rumor doesn't define if your spreading it. To me the OP lost credibility when he was willing to pass on questionable information, but was unwilling to call to find out if it was true. I once posted the following: emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/642122Can you guess what the (at the time) official Emotiva response was? How is this that much different? You make informed and open posts, and I think you try to foster better and more honest communications between the forums. I guess I'd say the difference in this case is that if a call was made they should have learned what was later posted by Emo here; the OP could have then posted back in the original forum and this thread might have never started (or may have had a different tone). We won't know because the call wasn't made and Emo staff had to post here to prevent a wildfire (I don't think they should be put in the position of rumor control). Unlike you I'm not embarrassed about this thread, but I am sorry the OP feels ostracized, rejecting the phone call fed the thread. I think it's good for the Lounge to promote a level of behavior, even if what that level is may not be clear or agreed upon. When things like this happen we could hope for better results next time (then again that could bump into that definition of insanity). Talking it out is better than locking it out. As for getting back to work … I’m retired. |

The ones causing all the drama could have also just called. Take some initiative? Instead of adding more hoopla...how about - "I just called Emotiva, rumors are false...$99 upgrade is still on". I guess it wouldn't be as fun as some folks live for the forum fighting but it sure would have saved a lot of time. |

I am not at all worried about Dirac. Oh come on! I know a double negative ("I don't know nothing" means you know something!) when I see one!  You can spill the beans on when that toaster and clock will be released! And when will the Searac software be available that allows toasting bagels? I bet you know that Emotiva are working on the finishing touches to the communication protocol between the toaster and clock so that the alarm clock rings just as the bagels are getting golden brown. You can tell us the real deal... this is your Emotiva family after all. If you don't reveal all, it might fuel the rumor that the Searac upgrade may not happen!  |

I read on an AVSForum that some random guy might have called Emotiva once upon a time and the person they might have spoken to said that they've never heard of Searac. That's it. This is a forum, that word alone should be qualification enough to post a question. If the OP calls Emotiva and ask a question and then post their response on this forum, he could be accused on another forum of spreading rumors. Ironic right.
