Let's say I light a match and start a fire in your house. I know you're home somewhere so I just expect you to come running over with a bucket of water to squelch it. That you fail to do so and your house burns down is your fault. Never mind that I shouldn't have started the fire in the first place or that I had a bucket of water right next to me that I could have thrown on it. It's your fault because it's your house.  Huh, that doesn't even work. First off op didn't start the fire (as far as we know), second he attempted to contact the homeowner effectively by shouting for anyone anywhere to hear. Third, he doesn't have to go fight the fire himself does he? Fourth, I don't think the house burnt down did it. Seems the homeowner heard the call in a relatively quick time frame and put the fire out. Fifth, regardless of the outcome for the house there is no "fault" anywhere. It was simply a business decision to respond and put the fire out, that's all. If they choose not to respond next time, I am sure they have a reason that makes no response more valuable than any response they could give. Both outcomes are fine, but they should get the opportunity to choose. |

Emotiva does not have a good track record on giving acurate information and straight answers so why would anyone bother calling them other than to oder stuff or technical assistance? And that was basically the response from my post above. |

Wow!!! Let it go. You guys are the reasons why threads get lock trying to defend Emotiva. They answered the question so can we move on please Why don't you get a clue? This is NOT about defending Emotiva. It's about posting an unsubstantiated rumor and then failing to do the easy thing of picking up the phone and calling them to find out if it is true or not. |

Ok, I am glad everything got cleared up, even though there was really nothing to clear up in the first place.
Let's take a look at the facts.
On another forum, a random poster (who's intentions are unknown) states he spoke with an Emo employee who said the Dirac upgrade is not coming. Weather this was a misunderstanding or a flat out lie, nobody seems to know. In response to this, the OP comes to the Emo forum and poses the question with (what I beleive) were pure intentions to find out the truth and stop (or confirm) the rumor (or possible lie) from becoming cemented into the collective zeitgeist of the internet.
Did anyone on the other forum try to call Emotiva directlty to find the answer?
I am guessing not, and that means the rumor (or lie) was drug over here, where it could possibly do the most damage to new potential customers of Emotiva.
I know when I first discovered Emotiva, the first thig I did was sign up on the forum here. Fortunately, I found the most wonderful (and super helpful) group of nuts on "teh interwebz".
So, we have a double edged sword here. If no one else would have attempted to find out the truth (such as OP) then a false statement would have become the general consensus on the other forum.
Fortunately, the truth came out with an official post from Emo staff (which I never doubted for a second anyway, to be honest), but in the time frame it took to get the official word, it may have turned some people off to buying an XMC-1 (or any Emo product for that matter) simply because some people will only read the negatives (true or not) and add them up in their heads to say "No way am I buying from a company that is plagued with problems and is kept afloat with empty promises".
I don't beleive the OP had ill intention, he was wanting to show the other forum proof in writing from an offical source. A phone call is always the best way to get information from Emotiva about a product, however, this is the internet and these things are bound to happen...

I would agree except that the exact same issue was spoken about right here by Emotiva and also at various shows I believe. And Emotiva did respond to at least a couple of phone inquiries from other users. All could have been avoided with a phone call. We know that because at least two people got answers on the phone to the same inquiry. Couldn't agree more that not all is cut and dry. |
