Hmm - I would have expected a classier response from the CEO of an audio company. Ripping the guy's home made speakers that he is quite proud of is the low road IMO. I don't expect you'll ever look up his build thread over on AVS but if you did you might not have said what you did in such a disrespectful manner. And I suppose fattykid was exhibiting class when he insulted Dan and his speakers? Fattykid threw out insults right here on Dan's own forum. "They're some of the ugliest speakers I've seen pics of.. but Dan says they're awesome. So anyone who disagrees must be crazy."
"And all the fans came in response to gulp and gag like they always do once the el presidente states that he is in the right... You're the one who is pathetic."
"I have my opinions of you and the way you run your company, I don't need to make them more public than I have in the past. That kind of class? I wasn't condoning fattykid's comments - he's gone and thats that. Do two wrongs make a right?

Some of us just get tired of the "protection services" that some forum members here think they have of the company when someone states their dislike or disappointment in a product, in the time I have been a member here I have seen a lot of it, say one little negative thing and you get pounced on by a pack of wolves, it just gets old after a while. Chad I don't think it was the fact he didn't like the product because many of us make those statements. It was the way he stated it. Disrespectful is juvenile. Play nice. He may have been a spammer. Typically you don't get onto the forum unless you have purchased a piece of gear. He had none. Gezz!! Ive talked about all manufactureres and posted plenty of pictures of them. I dont think you need to go negative about Emotiva or any other manufacturer! I have had a preference for my Yamaha 3020 over the UMC-200, Ive owned both but have never had the need to say anything bad about the Emo product, I just preffered the Yammy, no big deal. Nobody ever jumped on me and I never was disrespectful to our host, Emotiva Audio Company, no need to. They've always allowed their users to post there opinions in a respectful way. Ive posted about, Paradigm, Klipsch, Schiitt, JBL Rega, countless pictures of McIntosh VTA, Bob Latino and many more, never having a need to disrespect Emotiva. And Ive never been warned or told not to discuss another companies product. I, like others that have been here , come and gone and come back have bad days, weeks, months,,,,,,,it happens. To all of us. I personally find it best to forgive, forget and move on hoping that others will. I pray for my shortcomings daily and hope I can become a better person, friend, son, brother and fellow human being. We are fallible. We fall down, get up and try harder. Thats all I can do. Mamma says, if ya ain't got nothin nice to say,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Fattykid has been deleted. 'nuff said Really? It should be stated for the record that it was a case of self-annihilation... or e-suicide. For the uninitiated, that's not the same as suicide-by-moderator... just sayin'

Fattykid's posts have been deleted, which I assume happens when the user deletes their own account. So those posts are not available for review but as I recall, too many of them exhibited rude, uncivil behavior, especially towards Emotiva. It's one thing to express a dislike for a product but his remarks got personal and were unconstructive. Dan's final response to him was nowhere near as rude or out of line as fattykids were towards him, Emotiva and others in the Lounge. If you ask me, it was justified.
Sure, Dan is the CEO but he's also a individual who deserves respect. I didn't think his reply was out of line. No need to be PC about it.

Yes, when a member decides to delete his/her account, all their posts are automatically deleted. That's a proboards feature but that's also the case with most other forums.

Thanks garbulky! Was reading the posts here and thought of sharing this pic which is somewhat similar to the top portion of the new Emo tower speakers.

This place is impossible, I wasn't talking of one particular post but many, I myself don't hate or worship any one manufacturer but after seeing some posts get annihilated by Emotiva extremists I can see how some get frustrated and then resort to getting a little nasty.

People can be respectful in expressing a dislike or disappointment. Because they might not like something is fine. Heck, everybody doesn't like something. But that does not give license to rudeness and disrespect. And when they do become a little nasty they should know what may follow and not whine about it when it does. To think one can toss out tasteless insults and not face repercussion is quite naive. BTW, those subs look incredible.

This place is impossible, I wasn't talking of one particular post but many, I myself don't hate or worship any one manufacturer but after seeing some posts get annihilated by Emotiva extremists I can see how some get frustrated and then resort to getting a little nasty. It's human nature. The self-appointed defenders-of-all-things Emotiva are hard to stomach as they love to tell you how you should post but oddly enough don't like to be told how they should post. Then there are the disgruntled - whether with Emotiva or with various posters. All parties demand the other party needs to be more respectful, and the spiral never ends. If we thickened the skin, things wouldn't be so whiny, but it's how people are - not just on this board but everywhere. To be fair, it's concentrated in occasional threads that crop up every now and then, but compared to all the posts and all the threads, it's by far a mathematical minority.

All forums employ the same tactics it seems. If you agree with the "click" you are praised. When you disagree, you are shunned or ridiculed. Same thing happens at AVS, Klipsch, heck even the news sites. Your opinion is only valuable when it suits the purpose of furthering the intended cause.
Myself, I try to avoid the pettiness. There are plenty of posts I agree with (hence the teaman liked) and those I disagree with, too bad we don't have a thumbs down tab we can hit so you can see in a gentler, kinder manner when we disagree without riling up a hornet's nest of nastiness.

Nobody is shunned or ridiculed for simply disagreeing. Different and opposing opinions are fine but vitriol is not. Of course, being Emotiva's lounge, we have a lot of people that have Emo gear. But most also have other equipment too. And plenty of people disagree with Emotiva staff and each other but they do so in a civil manner. While I agree that a 'thumbs down' button would be great, proboards would have to provide that feature. In the meantime, there are ways to disagree without getting nasty. Below are some examples: - -1 Just like how people post +1, they can post a -1 when they disagree
- I beg to differ
- You have your opinion, I have mine
- Let's agree to disagree
So while we wait for proboards to provide a 'thumbs down' we can disagree.

Definitely a friendly atmosphere in this forum Hemster, which is why I frequent it daily even though I am not really in need of (nor have any room left for...) new gear. On the other hand, the news sites are horrible. All kinds of race baiting and insults flying and so on. I am glad we in here at least act civilized most of the time. I have made a lot of friends and I find support in this forum in any time of need. Thanks to everyone who tries to keep things civil! Tim
