I impulse ordered a pair of Audeze LCD-2 during their BF sale. But I sold my Audio GD 10.33 and now I need a headphone amp and a dac. I never was seriously into headphones so I don't know much. Would the baby Emotiva with the jumpers in place be a good match for Audeze LCD-2 cans? I know they're a common set of cans, but here are the specs from their page: Impedance 70 ohms Efficiency 101dB / 1mW Optimal power requirement 1 – 4W Maximum power handling 15W (for 200ms) Sound pressure level >130dB with 15W 101db/1mW seems too sensitive to use the mini with the jumpers in place? Figure 20Vrms from the jumped, ie, near zero output Z BasX A-100 and applied to your 70 Ohm 'phones - that's <6 W - and they are rated at 15W for .2S - with care, you should be safe. Leave the 220 Ohm resistors in and it will limit the output voltage to < 5Vrms across the 70 Ohm 'phones for <340 mW. With the 'phones advertised efficiency of 101dB @ 1 mW, that could increase the SPL to 124+ dB.... ouch! Several years ago, I needed a quickie headphone amp with a line level input for my table top short wave radios - and bought the Pyle PHA40 for $22 inc 12V wall wart PS (Now it's $17.42 Amazon Prime!). It's actually four separate headphone amps with ind gain controls and 1/4" stereo in/out - clean amp .03% HD @ 40mW SNR >90 dB. Worked great with Koss Pro-4AA and Sony MDR V6 'phones. Not as neat or powerful as a new A-100... You can feed line level A-100 outputs to a line input sub-woofer... if you set the sub's gain and A-100's gain to match - then control the overall level with an in-line volume control feeding the A-100's line in (I used Emo's excellent UCF!). My Klipsch RB 81ii didn't need the JBL SUB 550P - and the vintage Heresy's don't either - another sub for the closet! Still - it can be used with a sub-woofer...

I have a couple of Flusion Flex models driving in ceiling area speakers and I've been happy with the SQ and signal sensing power on feature. I may pick up one of these for a third location. The one thing I'd love to see is a bridgeable model - this form factor would make a killer mini-monoblock! I agree with the Monoblock situation. Though, I'd prefer without the headphone out for that. On the headphone side of things, though has anyone received it yet? I'd like to power my LCD-2f and soon LCD-XC off of this.

The monoblock idea is supposed to be in development (speakers only)! It uses ICE modules and produces I think over a 100 watts of power each. Form factor is meant to go with the DC-1.

Does the looped output cut off when headphones are plugged in?

Does the looped output cut off when headphones are plugged in? It outputs even with headphones plugged in.

Would it be dangerous to use the jumper on a headphone like the Hifiman HE-400i?

Would it be dangerous to use the jumper on a headphone like the Hifiman HE-400i? I have both the A-100 and HE-400i. Yep it would be dangerous and unnecessary. The HE-400i will get loud enough without the jumpers.

What happens if you only put one jumper on instead of both?

I'm really eyeing up this amp, but there are a few others on the list. Does anybody know if this may go on sale again soon?

I'm really eyeing up this amp, but there are a few others on the list. Does anybody know if this may go on sale again soon? Serious question, exactly what price would make you buy it right now? Right now it's $229, (I know Big Dan has already said this won't happen) but lets say for kicks that next month Emotiva has a 10% off sale on their amplifiers, thus making the A-100 sale price $206.10. Yes you may have saved $22.90, but lets be real, if the A-100 stays $229 and this is one of your top headphone amplifier candidates, are you really going to pass on it because of $22.90 ? Especially since it will drive any set of headphones you can throw at it, and I'm not even mentioning the noise floor on this amplifier is practically non-existent. I challenge any one to show me a headphone amp that sounds as good, with power to spare to drive any and all headphones and can be used to easily drive ceiling speakers in a Atmos/DTS:X setup for the regular great deal of a price at $229.

Having enjoyed my Mini-X A-100 for a few years now, I just went ahead and ordered a new BasX A-100 today. The headphone jack and 3 year warranty are enough to sway me from waiting to save a few bucks for a sale that will (probably) never come!

My gut's response was prior to this new information provided by Dan. So not misinformed, but now obsolete or no longer relevant.

Did they use a last gen for pictures? I think the new amp has a headphone out in front.

Did they use a last gen for pictures? I think the new amp has a headphone out in front. The last gen said mini-X, not BasX, though. It's as if it must be a prototype photo where the amp didn't have the headphone jack yet. Side question. Is there a reason this model is thrown under the BasX line, where as I believe the older 2 models were considered part of the XPA line?

Glad he reviewed the headphone amp. Not a bad review. Though I wish he would have mentioned that this is the most powerful headphone amp that you can purchase at that price....or really under 1k I believe unless one of the Schiit units out does it.

Just submitted an order for one! Decided my Carver M500T takes up much too much room on my desk, and I I can't seem to get a working adapter to let me use it with unbalanced headphones. Now I just have to try to sell the M500T.
