Maybe, but the number is less than half. I get tired of people acting like the inputs / outputs I want aren't state of the art, but having an old school radio tuner is totally rock on worth it and state of the art. Give me a break. Between the inputs poll and the tuner poll roughly 30 to 40% of XMC-1 owners use the FM tuner, whereas only about 10% use the 7.1 inputs; actually more people say they can’t live without an FM tuner than even use 7.1 inputs. That horse is getting afully tall. Much more than I though so fair enough; interestingly Yamaha, Arcam and others are now offering integrated Dab+ in appropriate markets.

Now that the RMC-1 is officially on the market, does somebody know if the XMC-2 will be ready by Jan 2019?
Thanks

I wonder if a better strategy for Emotiva at this point is to finalize and start producing the XMC-1 Gen3 or whatever it is called and then offer a trade in deal to existing XMC-1 owners to swap out their unit? Emotiva could retrofit the traded in XMC-1 to Gen2 or Gen 3 status and sell as B-Stock of even new if that's allowed? If Emotiva could offer a swap plus maybe $1k paid by the owner I think it could be successful? Maybe a dumb idea? -CB Looks like Emotiva liked my idea! Pretty much nailed it on upgrade cost! After reading the upgrade document, I am unclear whether one can have the new XMC-2 cross-shipped. That is can I give them my credit card and then ship me the new XMC-2 and then I return my XMC-1 once I have received the XMC-2. If I have to ship my XMC-1 first then I am completely shutdown in my HT system for however long I have to wait for turnaround? Since I use the system every night this would be a big inconvenience? Also, what is the projected ship date for the XMC-2? Thanks. -CB

I hope they do something like that, it would seem they would be protected as well. They charge you full price and send you an XMC-2, then when your XMC-1 is returned, you’re given the appropriate credit based on which video card you have — and that the unit has a properly registered warranty, remote, mic, etc. At least as an option, some probably won’t want to pay up front, but I’d prefer the convenience of swapping the unit out and having no down time.

Not that it's a large amount of money, but Emotiva pays a the CC companies 2-3% per transaction and pays them another fee for refunding a purchase. Given the cost of the items being purchased that adds up quickly, particularly for a small company. Considering their write offs in the trade up program that processing fee may be small by comparison, but it is significant. I wouldn't be surprised if they require you to send yours in first. I also wouldn't be surprised if they allow the proposed alternative since they are already being generous with the trade in program. We shall see.

Does the ongoing delays with DIRAC also affect the XMC-2? Will they have to go back to Franklin for the update?
Cheers Gary

The XMC-1 simply accepts the filters from the DIRAC servers, and I don't see it changing for the XMC-2/RMC-1/RMC-1L.

Per the upgrade email I received yesterday, it appears the front panel appearance changed? I really like the way it looked on page 1 of this thread (over a year ago, I know).

If margins are that tight I would be willing to pay a $50 surcharge for the convenience of being able to swap out my XMC-1 to the XMC-2 in real time. It's that important to me!

Just to add my unsolicited two cents, I'm SUPER happy with the information released in the e-mail. I just picked up my XMC-1 during a visit to Franklin back in December. I bought it to replace an Anthem MRX-710. The MRX-720 was released maybe six months after I paid full MSRP for the MRX-710, and there was zero upgrade path. It was literally, "Well, you could sell your 710 on eBay and use whatever you get to help pay for the 720." So when I read that I'm only going to have to pay $650 to get an entirely new processor with all the updates, I could not have been more pleased. Very much appreciative of the team at Emotiva. I continue to be super impressed with the sound quality of my XMC-1 and even more excited that I can go through a reasonable upgrade path to get to the XMC-2!
