I’m on the list as well and look forward to trading in my XMC-1 for the XMC-2. Funny thing of it is, it would take an XMC-2 to even contemplate getting rid of my XMC-1. Emotiva has hit a Home Run with this offer on customer commitment.

Emotiva has hit a Home Run with this offer on customer commitment. Never heard any other Company that offer this upgrade deal or 25% off on next upgrade or the old 40% off that are so desired. Emotiva are loyal to the old customer base that got them to the bigger company they are today.

I will wait until the XMC-2 is on the market and mature and stable.

I would like to run 9.2.6 setup using XMC-2. Considering that XMC-2 would only support 16 channels, what options do I have to run 9.2.6 setup? Thanks in advance.

Rotel offered a similar deal when the blew the bass management on their RSP-1066 way back in 2003/04. It is rare though... I just upgraded to a Samsung 82" Q90 TV from a older Pioneer Elite 60". I have a XMC-1 running my 7.1 system and will use the trade in program to upgrade so I have HDMI 2.0. My question is being that I'm staying with 7.1 sound and the only balanced amps I have are my 2 XPA-1's would the RMC-1L sound better then the XMC-2 or is the processing the same except for all outputs being the same. I was one of the first to receive the XMC-1 and I have not had a problem with it since day one I hope I will be able to say the same for the new unit.

It will sound different, as the XMC-2 uses different DACs. Whether it sounds better is an opinion. And yes, I know there’s the whole balanced/differential thing, but I guarantee they won’t make as much of an audible difference as the DACs. But if you’re still using the original HDMI board, you will enjoy being able to run 4K through the XMC-2. I’m guessing/hoping/predicting that the 4K board will have fewer issues in the XMC-2 than the XMC-1 upgrade has had. This due to the fact that the board was designed for the software platform run in the 2 vs being shoehorned into the 1, and the fact that they are hopefully working out the issues on the RMC-1.

Thanks for the reply I was thinking that they were using the same DACs for the left, right and center channels. Most of my music I use only 2 channel. Now I have to rethink what I'm going to order. I have my name on both list since the second day it was opened. Still using 1.4 board in the XMC-1.

I was referring to the DACs in your XMC-1 being different. Sorry.

I seriously doubt that the DAC’s will sound much different, if any at all. I’ve had (and still have) lots of Emotiva gear with DAC’s and other than the Ego (which has TI/Burr Brown DAC’s) they are all voiced pretty much the same.
Cheers Gary
