Actually I have a different view which may be wrong.
You have different boards, processors and firmwares in the XMC-1 and RMC-1. As you can see in the information section there are several separate firmwares used for different sections.
So as I said of course Kernel, DSP etc. will be different, but the HDMI-board is exactly the same and therefore its firmware should also be the same.

Maybe, but if the board had it's own firmware, to get the board working requires different coding elsewhere (because of the platform difference) and this would typically result in different coding on the board itself (if it has it's own). However you may be right.

There seems to be a big problem with the AppleTV especially. My Apple TV4K gives me no problems at all, once I changed the settings. Maybe that's because I have a Samsung TV so no Dolby Vision and I have CEC/ARC turned off. FWIW my ATV4K is set to "4KHDR 60 hz", chroma "4.2.2" with Match Range and Match Rate both "on". Cheers Gary Hmmm...well it should work either way but perhaps I can change my set up to fix these constant audio drops. I have an Sony OLED. I do have Dolby vision but I don't use it. How do you have your ATV set up? ATVFormat - 4k SDR (or 1080 SDR, both have issues) HDMI Ouitput YCbCR Chroma 4:2:0 Match Contents Off Audio Output HDMI Audio Format Auto Audio Mode Auto Sony TV HDMI signal format - Standard Format (vs enhanced with HDR, 4:4:4) Emotiva 5.1 Mode Auto __________________________________________________________________________ By the way, the problem does seem isolated to the Plex app in ATV. However, that is the main app I used. By far. I will get audio drop outs that are so bad they will literally require me to hard reboot the XMC-1. Other times, it will just require me to switch back to another input to get audio back.

Long time owner of the XMC-1 and just recently bought the HDMI 4K board about 3 months ago. Everything works good and I love my XMC-1 and I've been keeping tabs on when the atmos board was going to be released and I head over to the website and it's no longer found.... is the XMC-1 discontinued? Emotiva told me it is being discontinued.. make way for the XMC2...I also love my XMC1... After the updates why buy an XMC2?? I'll keep what I have!!!

Is there any information regarding the XMC-2? Was it shown at the CES?

Try the link to this thread below, not a whole lot(at least a picture of the front and back), but what is known has been said here. Also might want to try watching the interview Dan had at CES 2019, below. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/54249/xmc-2

Hair Nick is there any way to have a section on the Emotiva website for past products like the website had a few revisions back that had a "Retired" section, something we can still link to for info and specs. Cheers, Chad

Whatever happened to emovault ? That was an aweosme site. I think it was a site built by a forum member and it was not actually affiliated with Emotiva.

Actually I would like Emotiva to take care of this. Take care of customers who already spent their money, not the ones who still might...

^^^ bolle - it doesn't work that way in the USA. For example, have you ever tried to get help from a home-builder after you've closed and moved in?

They have always stood by the 1 year warranty. And once even way beyond the one year since the issue was ongoing within the first year What Emotiva is proving to be is a used car sales same gram of mind. Say anything to create a sale then not stand by what is said The xmc was supposed to be “the last processor you will need for 15 years” now they discontinue it and it’s the last item to receive the updated atmos board. Their focus is on new products. They have now done it in a bunch of ways with the rmc/1 Shame on them.

Every single brand out there develops new products and lines without thinking about their customer base while we went back to the drawing board years ago and designed all of our current flagship products to easily upgrade to the current standard as it changes. Ask anyone who has had to replace their receiver over the past couple of years when 4K happened and then HDMI 2.0 and now the upcoming 2.1 standard, it really sucks to be completely forgotten about and told you have to buy a new unit. Not with the XMC-1. Guys who bought the unit back in 2014 can now have the current HDMI standard in their unit and will be able to upgrade to Atmos soon. We wish this development could be finished already but we have a very small engineering team and these are large and very complicated projects. Even though the XMC-1 product itself is no longer being sold, it will still be supported for a long time to come. The XMC-1 shares the same architecture as the RMC-1, RMC-1L, XMC-2, and future processor models. We have spent millions and years developing our own platform so we can support all of this.

Why did my post get deleted? Well, whatever - BTT... I understood that the architecture actually isn´t the same due to the change from TI to Griffin Lite for the DSPs and therefore needing a different programming language? Maybe some of the confusion comes from this, could you clarify here? I understood that a lot IS aligned but there are quite some differences - how important they are, no outsider can know. Btw. just out of interest - how big is your engineering team and how big your QA / testing team?
