Photos from the Antarctic Peninsula December 1-8 can be found here. Last task is to sort through about 3000 files from birding in Ushuaia November 28 and the catamaran tour of the Beagle Channel November 29 before boarding the ship.

I had an idea, so I took a photo of the Milky Way that I made in New Mexico September 2021 ... and then (get this!)  I used ACTUAL Intelligence to create these images 

And BTW, I checked Google Earth and in theory in early November the photo of the Milky Way at the end of the Lemaire Channel could be made.  The "Wizard of Ice" might be a stretch.

My young friend Charlene had lunch with her girlfriends, but left before they took the group photo.  She asked if I could clone her in.  I found an old photo on FBook and added her on the far right.  THEN ... I sent the photo to my old friend Bill who has been experimenting with AI generated photos.  He used my photo as the "seed".  Check out what the AI did!

No shooting for 2 1/2 months.  Got out to Jersey to our usual spots.  Good to see mother eagle on the nest.  Should see chicks in a month or so.

Took the new Sigma 500mm lens out for a test run yesterday.  2168 files ... 1000 of them of short eared owls!  This dogfight with the fish crow lasted 2 minutes, according to the EXIF data ... and I shot 164 frames at these birds from quite a distance away.  Anybody want to buy a 200-600 zoom I don't need anymore?

I like action photography, the excitement of catching and freezing the moment, and yet preserving the "feel" of motion

This just blew my mind. I was sitting in my den talking to a friend on the phone, and looked across at my shelves full of things that I've accumulated over the years. On the left is this little figurine that has been on my shelf over 25 years. I don't remember where I got it. On the right is a photo I took near Port Charcot Antarctica on December 5.
