Bought my XPR-2 from a Lounge member earlier this year. It had recently been serviced by Emotiva. Keith has also said that the XPR line is serviceable by Emotiva within warranty with the exceptions of chassis. This thread is like listening to a bunch of gossipy old women who believe anything they hear, as long as it's bad. Yes Keith did say " serviceable within warranty " which only highlights that the XPR's that are out of warranty can be serviced ,and that Keith hasn't answered aside from stating obvious no go's like destroyed chasis & faceplates . As for " listening to old women " I'm happy you don't have the investment some of us have ,I for one built a $85,000 2 channel system centered around Emotiva XPR-1s and XPR-2s , everything changes when the amps are replaced with a different model by any manufacturer ,if your XPR amp is of little importance to you or your system that's fine, only dont talk smack to others who have invested serious coin based on Emotivas reference amps driving $25,000 speakers bought specifically to match the XPR's performance .

This isn't some wild insane expectation I have,it's industry standard with every last manufacturer of Reference quality amplification ,what would be the incentive to buy Emotiva amps when we can buy Crown or other pro amps with insane wattages at half or 1/3 the price ? But it IS insane, kinda? Nobody is complaining that Crown doesn't guarantee they fix stuff outside of warranty either. My samsung laptop died on me few days ago, purchased new in 2013; guess what, that $1500 is now a paper weight, if you call Samsung (like I did) they just send you to, uh, "expert technicians". And the reason why you still buy Emotiva equipment, is because it sounds better at half the price, than the competition.

Frankly, if you have that kinda money to burn, finding a qualified technician to service those amps is not going to be a problem. KeithL has already said they provide schemas to "real shops" (as opposed to random customers calling up their office). Not trying to be insensitive here, I just don't see what the problem is. Nowhere have I ever read that Emotiva claimed to provide support outside of warranty work, that seems to be an assumption you and others are making on their behalf (based on some vague notion of reputation), but they never made that claim.

There is NO upgrade to the XPR - 1 Ok,let me put Nick's statement in perspective ,the member who Keith noted for saying the Emotiva XPR-1 and 2s sounded better than Mcintosh's 1,200 watt $26,000 equivalent Mc-1201 Monoblocks was me,I own 2 pair of McIntosh 1201s & until recently I also owned the Krell FPB 750s which are 750 watts of class A power, neither pair of Monoblocks sounds as good,or deliever the same performance as the XPR's,and I posted pics of my other monoblocks with my review so it would be taken seriously instead of fanboy nonsense . I couldn't wait any more for Emotiva & Bob Carver to work things out so I bought the 300 watt McIntosh Mc-2301 tube monoblocks for my tweeters at $16,000 which is a huge deal, those amps can't deliver the performance of the XPR-1s ,my 1,200 RMS 4,800 watt peak wattage Mc-1201s don't sound as good as the XPR-1s,my 750 watt Krell FPB Monoblocks don't sound as good as the Emotiva XPR-1s & I paid $18,000 for them ,I also spent $11,000 on a new pair of Jeff Rowland 501s that push 1,000 watts and they too cannot touch the Emotiva XPR-1 Monoblocks ,I did the A/B testing on the fly using a McIntosh preamp ,can't remember which model but most likely the C-2200 tube pre from our 5 channel SACD rig ,for sources I used a McIntosh MVP-861 CD/DVD/SACD player,an Emotiva ERC-1 or 2 ,can't remember which model j pulled for the tests ,I also used my Dynaco/Panor Corp CDV-PRO tube CD player and my VPI scout for vinyl ,all my wires back then we're McIntosh's Tributaries brand . The speakers used we're McIntosh dual column XRT-22 line arrays in our HT,McIntosh XR-290 line arrays in our SACD rig ,and McIntosh XRT-28 line arrays at my McIntosh Dealers showroom ,even the Mac dealer I've known since we were in high school was blown away by the XPR-1s ,I bought the $22,000 XRT-28 line arrays based on how much more authority the XPR-1s drove all 68 drivers in the line arrays vs the Mc-1201s ,I don't know of a more revealing speaker than the arrays I own & I've compared the XPR-1s against the best amps McIntosh ,Krell & Rowland have to offer & the Emotivas were best in every comparison ,so which amps would you recommend we replace our Emotiva XPR-1s with ? Nick is right ,there is no amp equal to the Emotiva XPR-1 at any cost ,Emotiva made a very special amp design with the XPR line & it shouldn't be allowed to fade into history ,those of us who own them know they are irreplaceable and have capabilities no other 1,000 watt & up amp can replicate,I'm proud as he!! That I have a pair of $3,000 Emotiva monoblocks driving $80,000 worth of McIntosh because they do a better job,and most of us like to keep it that way .

Y'all have short term tunnel vision if you ask me. Guaranteed, someone somewhere will come out with something that sounds better than the XPR, and it will weigh 20 pounds (or maybe 120 pounds but they'll just line the case with concrete for all you "can't sound good if it don't break my back" types out there). And guess what, you'll buy it and this XPR discussion will be long forgotten. It's very foolish and short sighted to think that the XPR/XPA is the last word on high quality affordable amps that sound amazing. This is technology, it keeps moving forwards. It's not the last word. There are amps that measure much better (Hypex comes to mind). But for me I've been diligently working for my end-game. I want to reach the point where the sound satisfies me. I have only so much discretionary income, and once I get to a point where I'm satisfied, I move on to the next point in my chain. Power amps are great long term pieces that don't really have to be upgraded imo. Multichannel processors on the other hand of course go out of date like the wind. I would rather focus on thingsd like headphones, speakers, preamps, dacs tvs. I agree with much of that; for me, amps are the same way, something that doesn't have to be replaced unless it breaks. I have a different issue with Emotiva, but based on that same thought; my issue is their ever revolving, unstable product line, and that it doesn't allow me to purchase a system over time because by the time I'm ready to buy the next piece they've already moved on to something else. But within their warranty period, they've treated me well, twice. Once with a broken mini-x (during shipping the face plate/volume knob was crushed), and once with a 12 inch "ultra?" sub where the amp (bash amp rings a bell) died prematurely.

Everyting you said is 100% true except the Crown Comment ,Crown has a spectacular repair system, however,I and most other high end 2 channel guys don't buy throw away gear ,my 30 year old McIntosh Mc-7270 still looks correct sitting alongside the 30 year newer Mc-2310 tube monsters, why ? Because I & many others are legacy buyers because of the repair suport ,if company repair support for discontinued amps becomes the norm it's assured that every last person who bought XPR-1s they cannot get service for will look elsewhere when upgrading ,seriously ,right after a guy drags his $3 grand 100 pound XPR-1s to the garbage for some crackhead to strip for copper, who's gonna drop the amps at the curb, go inside their house ,log on to Emotiva and buy new amps ? That's thousands of let down owners . I've said all I'm gonna say on this issue unless it's in response to Keith or Lonnie ,the owners of XPR amps are the only Emotiva buyers effected here and I don't want to get this thread locked , hopefully other XPR owners will discuss .

What this thread might be useful for is identifying “qualified” technicians who Emotiva will share their schematics with and can competently repair XPR amps; hopefully a few of them regionally to reduce shipping costs. There’s been a lot of talk, but I don’t know if there’s anyone participating here that actually needs an XPR repaired?

To all my friends on this thread & everywhere in the audio enthusiasts world. We are also discussing the ability to create / recognize an Icon of audio gear!
No single amp has the beauty, build, power or stature as the XPR-1 has at this moment. It takes courage to embrace such an icon of the industry. A beacon to which all others can be held to without raping an enthusiasts pocket!
All / Most Every other power amp is not much more then a Black / Silver box priced at an obscure price point in which they hope becomes a standard bearer of the industry, the XPR-1 is that standard, most folks just don’t realize that. Letting the amp die and disappear into history without even a footnote would be such a shame and a poor ending for this Beast!
