I think his assumption is only 45 voted…….seriously. This is my assumption too. Can't assume too much. Just like you can't assume 2/3 think it's better. Of those taking the time to vote, 2/3 find it better. Satisfied people don't post much. Mostly the squeaky wheels. But seriously, if you read his post you'd have seen: " Out of 2000 happy customers only 45 voted……. seriously." Perhaps you don't understand snark when you see it... right under your nose... like a 100 year old pickled truffle. On top of defending the logical fallacy, why are you vociferously defending a survey with only 45 votes out of more than 2000 possible voters? Do you really want to establish dissatisfaction by post count? Do you think this little survey will fix the squeaks? I think we should move on to troubleshooting and fixing the real issues.

I'd say you have no clue whatsoever nor do I. How many of those 2,000 would revert to 2.5 if they could? I certainly don't know and I'll bet you don't, either. The only data we have shows that a little more than twice as many people would keep it rather than go backwards. You don't like it and you seem to want to convince everyone else that it's bad. I say let them decide for themselves to install or not and whether they like it or not. I wonder what you would think of the survey if 2/3 said that they don't like it and would revert if they could.

New RMC-1 with current firmware - painful to need constant reboot after putting unit in stand by. Works fine until it doesn’t . Went with static IP ADDRESS and unit seems more stable. Two weeks in with new unit and hoping issues will somehow disappear. Probably wishful thinking. Simple set up. CEC off on all devices. Video stand by set for pass thru. Unit locks up constantly.

For the 21 that voted there was an improvement in their processor, what specifically was improved for your gear? 🤔 txs

For the 21 that voted there was an improvement in their processor, what specifically was improved for your gear? 🤔 txs For me, when I used the Harmony remote the XMC-2 would not always start on the right input. For example, if I used my Oppo to watch a movie, turned off everything, then later used my Amazon Fire Box, it would start up on the wrong input. 3.1 seems to have fixed that. But otherwise I haven't noticed any difference except the boot up delay on low power mode that everyone complains about. My use is pretty simple, don't have many devices connected.

I'm assuming they have emails for owners...

Between this latest Emotiva 3.1 update and my recent Roon 2.0 update adventure, I have learned to really read the release notes. Knowing you cannot roll back to the previous version is an absolute total game changer. I have always considered a firmware update to be good thing which probably makes me naive. I would never consider a firmware update to be a setback until now. I am 61 years old and I am trying to keep on top of this stuff. I am glad that the Roon 2.0 update was successful and my decision to not upgrade to Emotiva 3.1 was successful. I am currently 2 for 2. From now on, I will always postpone a firmware update until everyone voices their experiences to educate me.

EMO has my e-mail address. Did you get an e-mail about the FW 3.1 update? Emotiva absolutely, definitely did not directly contact owners to advise about a firmware update. There are thus a lot of owners unaware. Those who have not opted out of sales and marketing emails (and, of course, I have no wish to receive Emotiva news or discounts, so am opted out!) may have got something in a general information email, but that certainly does not count as pro-actively contacting owners about how to correct some of the defects in the G3P product they have purchased by directing them to a source of a firmware update. I received no email. Emotiva have my email from my original purchase, and my upgrade, and another issue I have contacted them about with this processor. Off my own back I am subscribed to the Firmware Forum pages so get update notifications anytime anything is posted there, and only Emotiva can post there. That is how I found out.

So, if the lesson is that everyone should wait to install a firmware update...will there be anyone to go first to see if it works or not?? And the survey says - 17 out of 52 would revert, if they could. That's a heck of a failure rate. Who would go first knowing that 1/3 would have a bad update? Draw straws? Are you a private investor in Emotiva? Family or friend? What exactly are you defending? Did the beta test team have the same failure rate? Are you part of the beta test team? How many of the current 52 votes in the survey come from insiders? Reread what I said. The lesson learned is for me. Learn whatever suits you. Wow....get excited much?! I know what I'd like to call you...but I will refrain. What's your problem? Personal attacks are not a good look.

The advantage to products that directly use the internet for firmware updates is that they show up and you have the choice of updating, or not. For example, your phone, streaming box, Ipad, etc. With a product that doesn't, you would either have to be subscribed to receive notifications (and hope the company sends them), or you would have to realize that your product may receive updates and you would have to check the website on a regular basis.
