Wow....get excited much?! I know what I'd like to call you...but I will refrain. What's your problem? Personal attacks are not a good look. Sigh. Reasoning will never make a man correct an ill opinion, which by reasoning he never acquired. – Jonathan Swift Looks like I hit the center of the target. I doubt you could hit anything if you tried...not responding to any more stupid remarks as it's a waste of time and bandwidth for those here...unproductive...

I think Emotiva sent out a blanket email to owners mentioning the 3.1 firmware...I could be wrong. I'm assuming they have emails for owners... I didn't receive an e-mail about the FW 3.1 update. EMO has my e-mail address. Did you get an e-mail about the FW 3.1 update? I didn’t get any email but I read the board every day. I saw the start of a « new era » post and was so excited. I was hopeful this fw would help but surely wouldn’t update until there was a consensus. I quickly decided to pass. I run 7.1.4 with 3 subs in mono mode. I don’t want to lose the little I have. It isn’t extremely awful but it sure is the most unstable processor/avr I ever had. It is 100 of times more reboots, with switching between inputs to get sounds, pops and clicks, robot voice sounds, all that same stuff you all report than any of my Onkyo, Denon, Marant of the past. I am also losing the first two seconds every time I put a sacd or dvd-a. On a Apple Music playlist it is every song! I just don’t listen to playlist anymore on the XMC-2. I use my Marantz. Still better than losing my mid height channels had I updated. I am still running 2.3 on my xmc-2. and even considered going back to 1.9. There never were much improvement for me between few updates. Wonder if it would sound better in 1.9 like the RMC-1? i think 1.9 is the first few supporting Dirac…. If I remember well.

God bless you jijoe. Have a better day. God bless your soul too... While I don’t support PaulBe’s way of discussing this topic he’s actually correct. Stability is the main thing in the software in these kind of gears. Not features! If 2500 updates and 100 have issues then it IS a failure. Even 50 would be a failure! However 10-20 can be hardware or other things. It could be handled by support.. As it is now out of more than 2000 we are seeing probably several 100s with issues. This is a complete failure. I can only hope Emotiva will pick up from here and release 2-3 quick fixes that pins the most annoying things and the general stability. Lagging and hangs are a real nono IMO. But these could very well be hardware issues. Actually I have always thought they must be. How else can there be such a difference between setups with almost the same gear connected.

Yesterday I attempted to use the internal frequency generator for testing purposes. Test frequencies were sometimes good. Sometimes had buzzing and chirping on the test frequency. Sometimes I could stop the buzzing and chirping by toggling the test tone frequency up or down one cycle or more. Sometimes not.

Can we add voting option - I did not upgrade yet?

Can we add voting option - I did not upgrade yet? I’m not sure that would help anyone, but no, you can’t change polls once they’ve been saved.

Oh, it would help a lot by painting more complete and correct picture by changing percentage values of other options to better reflect Emo population trends I disagree, people who don’t install have no first hand knowledge of how the update works in their system, they would skew the results without value to those looking for information.

People who don't install the FW can't skew any of the results of installing the FW. Knowing the percentage of people who don't install the FW is valuable information to me. People can decide for themselves what is valuable or not valuable. We can mentally remove results we find unimportant. Why do a few of you insist that additional knowledge before installing is a bad idea? Having to install it to see what’s in it reminds me of a particular government health program. 30% of the current 57 voters would revert. Only 40% have no issues. That firsthand knowledge shows a bad track record. Start a new poll with a 'did not upgrade yet' voting option.

Excuse me but anyone with access to this forum can create a poll? No? Those that want it could create it themselves?! Why should those that don’t feel it’s needed create a poll? Or am I missing something here?

I wholeheartedly agree with your disagreement. I wholeheartedly disagree with your agreement. Start a new poll with a 'did not upgrade yet' voting option. Anybody here asking for a new poll can make a new poll. So make a new poll. But people that choose not to upgrade will provide no meaningful information if we're looking for who likes the FW and who doesn't. And don't forget: I didn't upgrade because mine is working fine. I didn't upgrade because I haven't had the time. I didn't upgrade because of what I read in the thread and I'm afraid it'll cause problems. I didn't upgrade because I don't like the extended boot time using LPS. I didn't upgrade because I don't have one. Even then, we will have no idea whether it would work well for them or not. It would be better to create a separate poll just for those that didn't upgrade and why they haven't done so.

It amazes me how people can be encouraged to do something where the success rate is only 39%. Where you have to install it to see what is in it. What is in it is a grab-bag of issues for 61%. Issues that run from unpleasant to malfunction. Our little exchange has taught me a lot. Thank you. 59 votes
