I would love for Emotiva to make a vintage looking speaker such as the JBL L52 or L-100, Polk Audio SDA series, or Klipsch Heresy or Heritage series! I'm pretty much losing my interest in home theater and moving toward 2.1 / 2.2 channel stereo!

There are some OTHER new speakers on the way in a little while that you're probably going to really like. My idea of what "a real speaker looks like" is a somewhat big rectangular box, with a grill cloth, and real wood veneer.... (And real oiled wood veneer... not shiny plastic.) Kind of like those... The ultimate way to make a speaker disappear - a BIG speaker, even - is to buy a pair of Magnepan 3.7i or 20.7i and aim them 45 degrees to the side wall. When placed precisely, sitting at the MLP all you see is a dark edge about 2" wide. The speaker is essentially invisible. Then, if you have nice hard reflective side walls within 3-4ft of the speakers, you turn on the music ... and your mind is blown! .............................. And Keith? With his preference for 'speakers that look like speakers? I had to laugh. What the heck does THAT mean? Gotta have cones? Some plain grill cloth? No...for ME....speakers are potentially a decorative item. And FUNCTIONAL. Just like anything else. EVERYONE can have preferences. I'm personally tired of the 'tower' paradigm and multiple smaller woofers. Give me a BIG woofer / Passive or proper porting......High sensitivity and decent power handling.....that gives high potential dynamic range..... If I were sending an audiophile 'Yute, off to college? Maybe those KEF LS50 in 'latest' iteration......and a small integrated amp. Use iPhone / Spotify or WHATEVER as a source......Heck! My Radio Shack Minimus 7 would do in a PINCH. They have stood the test of time....and for a 'found' item? Really NOT bad at all. .................................

You know, Keith? The current line of the 3 most-affordable speakers from Klipsch Heritage? Look a LOT like what you imaged.
Unfortunately? Even the Heresy as least expensvie is over 3 grand the pair. The Sweet Spot is about 5 Large and is the Forte IV.
The recent (comparatively) upgrades to crossover and tweeter have made some positive differences which all reviewers note......and
are mostly on-board with.....Choice of 4 veneers is no-extra cost.
The Cornwall is most $$$ and out of the ball park for me, even in my dreams....north of 6,000$

The picture I posted was actually of a pair of speakers I owned a long time ago (that picture was not the pair I owned). They were Rectilinear Research 5a's. Four way... sealed... with a 12" woofer, a 4-1/2" KEF B-110a cone midrange, a 2" dome upper midrange, and a 1" dome tweeter... They had real oiled dark wood veneer (either walnut or dark oak). They were not terribly efficient... but they sounded extremely nice... and especially smooth with vocals. I have to admit that I do like the way the current Klipsch speakers look... However, while I do like the way Klipsch speakers look, I simply cannot get nostalgic about the way they sound... I do remember the original Klipsch Heresy... and I never thought they sounded very good. Efficient: yes... Dynamic: yes... Smooth: not nearly. They sounded nice with some instrumentals... but way too "shouty" and "in your face" with vocals for my tastes... To me, some of their newer models I've heard sound far better, but there are still other brands that I prefer. And, yes, I MUCH prefer ours speakers, and specifically our tweeter, over any Klipsch model I've ever heard in person. (I have a pair of our old Stealth 8's in my living room.) However, as we all know, speakers are very much a matter of personal taste. I don't have all the details yet... But, as far as I know, the new "lease breakers" will be three way, with a big woofer, a cone midrange, and a horn-loaded folded ribbon tweeter... Also a more conventional box shape (not towers) and real wood veneer... You will be seeing more details soon. You know, Keith? I have a soft spot for oiled walnut veneer myself.

The Cornwall is most $$$ and out of the ball park for me, even in my dreams....north of 6,000$ I would have TENDED to agree with you about the Klipsch 'sound' until I heard the Forte IV. Not 'shouty' or really forward. Clean and dynamic. Good dispersion......so seating position is not 'head in a vise' particular. The current horns (not to be entirely confused with the DRIVERS) has brought about some changes for the good. Drivers now benefit from some 'higher tech' features....Some use Titanium elements. Other use phase plugs to aid dispersion. NON OF THIS adds up to 'better'.......by necessity, but the execution by Klipsch....including some crossover mods....really helps the overall sound. Vocals SUPERB.......And brass / blues harp and strings all sounding proper without bloat or 'emphasis'..... I can't tell you WHAT to buy....But will recommend going for a listen. Do NOT listen to most youtube reviewers who are self indulgent and lazy. That Guttenberg character is particularly worthless, being able to TALK about something ad nausium without ever getting to the point.. One guy hates Klipsch but admits some improvements...(WTF?) And the 'fanboy' type is also to be ignored. One reviewer owned everthing from LaScala DOWN at one point or another. How can you do a 11 minute video without SHOWING what the hell you are talking about? all fairness? ONE vid did a disassembly, pulling all the drivers and showing internal construction and crossover. At one point, I'd have NEVER written what I wrote above. I became curious since I wanted to go LISTEN to a high sensitivity speaker.....the exact polar opposite of my Maggies. And I did some reading around and just happened to FIND the Klipsch at a nearby store.....one town over. Crazy good luck. Sound room is Quite nice as such things go, with a comfy long sofa and a music server with Thousands of songs......Place is high security, too. Exterior door with a Kaba lock to the soundroom and 'other' features I noted......

I’ve got my Forte II’s with Crites crossovers and upgraded tweeters…some music I play they are freakin incredible….sone other stuff I gotta play around with the adjustments. But for 1k all in with the additions I’ve added, not sure I’m moving away….it’d would have to be an incredible deal, like letting me be a guinea pig for awhile with a free pair….😳🥃🤣

The idea would be for you (selind40) to migrate to the nearest place you could hear the new 'IV series' from Klipsch. I've looked at the Crites stuff for Klipsch and am not OVER impressed. Some of the layouts are sub-optimal (orientation of inductors) and other stuff is just put where it fits. I think building on a good G10 board would be the way to go......I'm very particular about inductors and would design / build given original part value and wire size. Need the DCR, too..... When I noodled thru a new crossover for my MG1.6 Maggies? I discovered that the problem with stock inductors was they were sub-optimim and made all sorts of claims....like for ribbons and such. I designed PERFECT inductors with same number of layers as winds PER layer....making a square section coil.....And was able to match stock DCR of the new part so I didn't change the frequency balance thru drastically higher or lower resistance.....And in the case of Magnepan? I designed an aircore to replace an iron core, so no saturation problems......and used thicker wire...... Everybody winds 'stock' values and will dewind for whatever value you need. I'll admit to not having heard the II or III series. But the ones I heard are very impressive. ZERO horn artifacts, even with blues harp or instruments with HF 'sizzle'..... One neat thing about horn speakers is that you can mate many different drivers to a given horn. www.simplyspeakers.com/klipsch-speaker-replacement-diaphragms.htmlLook what is avaialbe at the link. And the low cost. If you fry a tweeter, you'd have trouble spending 100$ for new. Cheap enough that if I fried one, I'd buy a PAIR, replace both and keep the removed part for a spare.....

The new “lease breakers” sound fun! I hope they will come in a black wood version. Black ash always looks good. Thanks for giving us a heads up. Can’t wait to hear the details!🔈👍🏻

12" / 3-way were at one time the staple of many speaker lines......
JBL made a bunch....and even today you can get a reissue of the L-100 for maybe 3400$ give or take.
My brother had the 4311, same deal.
My only problem with 'em are those attenuators. Me? I'd be tempted to measure resistence at 2 or 3 places and get
a switch with fixed resistors for a 3 or so position option......
NO BLACK, Please! Even a few colors......would be preferable.
And follow the JBL lead and sell WITH 'shortie' stands for a slight tip back and visual relief from the floor.....

Instead of the metal tipped back stands I would like to see a cabinet that carries down to the floor, keeping the woofer a bit higher than some of the old designs , with a built in Emotiva style chamfered MDF base. I think this would be an original design that could look and sound good if done properl. Kinda a retro modern twist. I’m picturing a matte black baffle and base with walnut veneer sides. But I likely want mine in black ash lol! And please no external hardware showing. The new speakers look great with the trim rings and magnetic grilles. Much more clean looking!

KLIPSCH uses a tip-back riser on some models.....the Forte IV and maybe the Heresy IV...... I'd SKIP the black ash....but that's just me.....I'd much prefer an automotive style finish....Something from the PANTONE line. They are pretty much the Standard for such things www.pantone-colours.comI see automotive 'skins', too and think it would be worthwhile to explore this material for speakers..... By any and all means, DO make RS-1 copies.. But be ready for something that makes 'sticker shock' a bad joke..... The 1b version was 5300$ back in the 80s........Inflation calculator says just over 15,000$, which gets you into some pretty rarified air.

Would love to see the Stealth 8 resurrected perhaps with Class D amplification. Better yet Stealth Super 8 (WTW) with nice stands. 😛
