Experienced the car dealer prices and labor standards myself. I am finding out that some mechanics at these dealerships are leaving them and going out on their own. They are even advertising where they worked before so you know what their certifications and specifications are for the cars they service. I have literally saved hundreds of dollars by seeking these mechanics out. Good luck with your search. Not Currently searching, but I agree. Had a water pump changed in my (than) 2007 4cycl Camry. OEM pump gave up at about 36,000 and a few. Leaky POS. Went to an aftermarket guy and brought him a Bosch pump and a gallon of 'pre mix'. Painless operation. He had the right sealant and knew NOT to use the gasket. For my Element? I saved several THOUSAND $$ accumulating my own parts and having the dealer do the labor. Cat Convertor alone saved me nearly 2500$. I saved at least another 500$ buying all the rest of the stuff needed. Be warned, though? Some places will NOT use 'your parts' and spin some kind of BS warranty tale......They LOVE full-pop for parts and make double doing the labor....... Just had smog and 'certification' done. Only 41$, using the credit card. Other places are $$$ and more for the same operation.....

Can we get an update as to when the XT2 will be available? Will it be in time for the promotional discount?

I’ve been able to get 300k+ miles out of my vehicles. I love bmw 335s but don’t recommend them to friends unless they are able to service them. Dealers gouge the crap out of owners that know nothing about their cars. But I’m old school…

How many miles per watt?

So about the new center channels... Does having the tweeter and midrange side-by-side asymmetrically really not cause any wierd issues? I mean I'm sure the engineers took all this into consideration when designing it, but I still can't help but be a little skeptical...would it be possible to sit too close to the center and have some sound issues manifest (like lobing or localization)? I just don't want to dive headfirst into these new speakers and have some unforeseen issues pop up.

Can you orient speaker VERTICALLY?

The short answer is that center channel speakers are designed to be operated sideways... and things like this are in fact taken into account. Things like the spacing and locations of the drivers, and the details of how the crossover is designed, are carefully chosen to minimize issues like this. People usually have a specific reason to want to install a horizontal center channel speaker - usually so that it fits under their TV. If they have room for a vertically oriented center channel most folks will just use a third tower that matches their Front Left and Front Right speakers. However, on both of the two smaller center channel speakers, the speaker CAN be oriented vertically. (And both the tweeter, and the name badge, can be rotated 90 degrees to match.) And, if this concerns you, and you have the space, you might consider using an XB2 as a center channel instead. So about the new center channels... And, if this concerns you, and you have the space, you might consider using an XB2 as a center channel instead. Interesting that the frequency response of the XB2 (55 Hz - 27 kHz (+3/-3 dB)) varies from the B2+ (40 Hz – 28 kHz (+3/-3 dB)). That seems to be a significant difference, is the 40 Hz spec correct for the B2+? We love the C3+ center, it packs a punch and holds up well with our T3+ towers. We use four B2+ as height speakers.

Same LF driver? Same enclosure volume? What changed?

I've attached a summery of the significant differences between the new Airmotiv X-Series and the previous Airmotiv Plus-Series of loudspeakers... airmotiv_plus_vs_x-series.pdf (71.69 KB) Note that, on a small speaker like the XB2, which is going to be mounted on a shelf or stand, the frequency response, and especially the low-frequency roll-off, is going to vary depending on the exact conditions under which you take the measurements. (What is the height of the stand? How far is the stand or shelf located from adjacent walls? )

Very true. I could 'help' speakers by placing closer to a wall or plane surface.
I made such a recommendaton to my brother and he was surprised by the result...
I don't kwow why? He'd been into audio longer than I and at one point even owned
a pair of the large and heavy Wharfedale W-70e from the early 70s......
But that dodges the point of using Uniform conditions in the testing of speakers.
You start down a road of testing the speaker / room which might be the best reason yet
for some kind of anachoic or semi-anechoic measurement method?

I do not use room correction software (tried several times with Dirac and the XMC-2, but prefer without), so I am curious to know where to set the crossover. I currently have it at 50hz, which I was thinking would be about right with the 40hz spec. I'm wondering if I should up them to 60hz, if that would be a more reasonable setting.

I don't know a lot about HT, but would ask how much 50hz or 60hz content is in the Atmos channels? If all the low bass is in the sub / mains then you only need harmonics to localize where a given sound is coming from.

If all the low bass is in the sub / mains then you only need harmonics to localize where a given sound is coming from. Atmos allows for full frequency content to be sent to all speakers. I am a musician and have dabbled in Atmos mixing, it allows for any sound to be moved around the entire speaker array.

Wow! So you'd need a sub at each speaker location? After all, that movie with a plane crash or stomping dinosaur will generate lots of LF..... I don't see WHY, given that frequencies in the lowest octave are nearly impossible to localize..... Or am I mistaken in some fashion?
I'm afraid this has all gotten out of hand. I'd have hoped that a good pair or triad of subs with real output to 16hz (low pedal note for Pipe Organ) with the harmonics providing localization would suffice. I know my sub is invisible, but if I shut it off, the image 'collapses' inward.
I think the crossover points you suggest from your post.....a couple slots above.....would be FINE and dandy....

Has anyone bought any Emotiva outdoor speakers? simpleman68 posted his thoughts HERE. He owns them and I've tagged him in my response to you. Maybe he will chime in here with more to offer if necessary.
