I believe that Serizawa considered his oxygen destroyer to be "too terrible to fall into the wrong hands... or ANY human hands"... I've always assumed that he had somehow kept the way it was manufactured or produced a secret... or believed that he had. So, by killing himself, he "killed the only person who knew how to make it"... (That way he could be sure that he would never be convinced to disclose that secret to anyone else.) I seem to recall, in the original, some dialog that suggested that he had regretted discovering it... As I recall, he had planned to keep it a secret, but a certain young lady, who he showed it to, told the military folks about it... And that, even after agreeing to produce it to kill Godzilla, he was conflicted about doing so... And really preferred to die rather than to risk being convinced to do so again... This was back in the time when a lot of people actually thought that some weapons, like the atomic bomb, were based on secrets known or understood by one or two people. And so that they actually could be "gotten rid of" if the one or two people who "knew the secret" died. And "took the terrible secret to the grave with them". This motif shows up in several science fiction stories written soon after WW II. I never quite got why Serizawa took his own life….. Though both he and Godzilla met the same fate at the end with a lack of oxygen Lol "This motif shows up in several science fiction stories written soon after WW II." Along with all that Theremin music...

Like many others we’re doing the “Dune” double feature, after getting a copy of ”Part 2” last week. Just wanted to comment once again, on The lossless audio presentation for the first film, as I was so totally blown away …… Forgot how incredible it was until the introduction kicked in. As good as the 3-D rendering is on this film its small potatoes compared to the audio presentation.
Within the hour, we’re going to kick back and watch the second film.

Kudos once again to Klaus Baldet….. He’s the new John Williams rockstar musical score

…… A fun blast from the past!
My MGM DVD copy was done in 1998. I think
Rave reviews on the audio for this 2012 Blu-ray version.
It’s old, yet 14 years newer than the copy I’ve got lol. A fun view for tonight and a nice pack of bonus features that I’ve never seen before……(To each his own…. My daughter HATES BONUS FEATURES.
For reasons unknown they spoil the whole deal for her just give me the movie and then walk away and she’s not the only one.

Netflix has it available for streaming so we’re going to revisited at some point just put it in the queue……

Watched this last night streamed from Amazon/FireTv This is one of those films that somehow escaped me all these years! I’m going to make a point of seeing it.…… Jurassic Park is the only film I’ve ever seen before (as far as I know) that has Richard Attenborough In it as an old man.

Under Paris.… it was so bad I needed to return to the original shark bite film LOL to “feel” good again.! I watched Jaws back in 1975 in a packed harbor Island cinema with six or seven other family members…… The person to my right ( I was one seat from the end) Screamed out in this packed theater when nobody else did. I asked her because I wanted to know what the heck I missed……
Turned out, she burned her hand on one of those old aisles lights on the side of her seat.

TV series watched recently:
The Boys - Seasons 1-2 - Not bad, although friends have warned me that Season 3 is a dog.
Las Vegas - All Seasons - I liked it; my friends didn’t. Maybe I was just in the mood?
The Power - I liked it a lot; my friends didn’t. I’d still recommend it - (It gets MUCH better after the first Chapter).

Invasion of the body Snatchers 1978 remake with Donald Sutherland.
Not as good as my bad memory serves, but it was fun to see some of the old actors brought back to life such a campy 70s flick but good fun and Leonard Nimoy too!

I looked this up because of politics but it really has nothing to do with it. It’s a very intriguing movie with an outstanding cast. A look at real life through another lens. Mrs and I feel it was time well spent. JD Vance
