I have asked this question a few times with no answer. Hopefully now that the UMC-1 will be shipping shortly we can get an answer...
Will the remote information be available through URC? (I use an RF system) Will there be discrete codes for functions that dont appear to be on the supplied remote? Will the commands be published somewhere so we can upload them to URC remotes?

Lonnie, Can you please give us an update on the status? I talked to him yesterday and he said mid feb. Obiously some units are shipping now, but mass shipping does not begin until sometime in Feb so that is why i assume they wont be available until then. Lonnie mentioned that the codes have been available but there were a few things he was not happy with so they are being reworked. They should be done in time for mass release of the unit. But yes discrete codes will be available

This information from Bigred is both accurate and correct. Discrete codes will be available and they should be ready to go as the unit becomes widely available.

Thanks for the info.
Is it safe to assume that the HEX codes will be publicly available? If history is any indication that simply getting the codes to Logitech and/or URC doesn't mean they will find their way onto their databases.
If the codes are published than I can upload them to my URC remote directly.
Thanks again.

So I thought I'd post my speed settings for the UMC-1:
Power On Delay: 14000 Inter-Key Delay: 100 Input Delay: 500 Inter-Device Delay: 100
I could probably get away with a bit less on the Input Delay but I'm just playing it safe for now. Besides, it will become meaningless once discrete input codes are available. I haven't touched the Inter-Key Delay. I could probably get away with 0, but haven't found a reason to test it out.
Obviously the big one here is the Power-On Delay. While the unit's booting, it is NOT able to accept commands from the remote. It can accept commands during the volume ramp-up, which will also stop the ramp-up. However, if the command comes a bit too early (right when the ramp-up is about to start), the ramp-up will stop but the input will still not change. Thus, the remote must wait for boot-time to finish and let the ramp-up at least start.
Boot time can vary a bit, often taking less than 10 seconds, but I was unable to consistently change inputs upon power-on using delays from 3000, 4000, 5000, and so on all the way up to 11000. I finally cranked it way up to 14000 and it seems to be working every time. I'll try backing it down to 13000 and 12000 and see if those work too.
*Update: 13000 does not work consistently. *Update: Reduced Inter-Key delay to 100 with no ill effects.
If anyone has better settings, please let me know.

Glad to hear the codes will be out soon. Call me a baby but having my Harmony One work is a big deal to me!!!

It's important to me also since I don't have a workable line of sight to my gear and use an RF repeater with my Harmony-compatible remote. Another advantage of that is that the remote works from upstairs in zone two as well with no IR repeater system.

yea i say give us the option of using the Harmony remotes soon! not fair for the early users of the UMC to have to wait, and yes i know we can make the Harmonys learn the commands, but soo much easier just using the logitech database

Honestly it works pretty well even without discrete inputs, as once the unit's booted up you can change inputs basically as fast as you can press the button (and you can turn off any unused inputs, except the Tuner for some reason). It would work a bit better if the Harmony software could account for both "input +" and "input -" buttons as opposed to a single "change input" button, but obviously that's not Emotiva's fault.
And of course my biggest gripe is that even after the proper codes are released by Logitech, I can't ever really do anything about my long-ass power-on delay. 14 seconds isn't really a big deal, but it does make my miss the instantaneous simplicity of the component-only Yahama receiver the UMC replaced.

I have the Power On Delay on my Pioneer Elite AVR set to 1000 ms and I´ve never experienced any problems firing up my HT with any of my sources selected. Best regards, Ole Willy Tuv

I found the UMC-1 in the Harmony DB tonight. I'm having some problems with input selection on my activities, but the functions work well.

I just checked--you're right, it is in there, but no discrete input settings yet that I can find. Nice that it's finally in the database, but I guess they've yet to add all the latest codes.
Have you played with speed settings yet? Unfortunately 14000 seems to have stopped working consistently for my power-on delay and I may have to up it to 15000.

Yes they will have discrete codes available, yes they will publish them, and since today the other codes are in the Harmony data base (in fact i've already programmed by harmony and it works wonderfully with the UMC-1)

These are all the same questions I was thinking. I'm debating on getting a logitech\urc\ or just keeping the remote that comes with it. After owning a Harmony remote I could never go back to using the original ones. Just so easy to have one and be done with it. I use the orignal ones for set up type things that I don't do often but other than that all Harmony.
