I understand that most people are looking for the harmony discrete codes for input selection, but what about the people that have URC... I have asked about URC about a dozen times since I use an RF setup from URC (MX900 remotes and MRF-260 base station). So far there has been zero response. That was one of the reasons that I passed when I got my request for CC information.

Shamefully enough, I might have to pass as well...It would seem like I was taking a step backwards(as my avr630 via analogs works perfectly fine and give me lossless audio with handshake issues and audio dropout like others have been indicating via HDMI). Plus, if I bought the UMC-1, I would have to spend another $200 on a Harmony One(and might not even be able to get direct source selection). That just doesn't make much sense to me. I might just update the xovers on my klipsch instead and maybe wait for the XMC(was on the pre-order list). I only real reason, I added myself to the UMC-1 pre-order list is because they never came out and said the XMC-1 was going to be $999(like initially thought).

I understand that most people are looking for the harmony discrete codes for input selection, but what about the people that have URC(or other remotes for that matter). I was thinking about purchasing a URC r50 for $80(that's about all I have to give to a remote) and was wondering what are my options for direct source selection. With the remote being available for purchase for almost 2 years, how would I get a direct source selection in it? Maybe I'm just a little confused(or a n00b), but it just doesn't make any sense how it would work(even with a learning capability) without having to press the input button several times. Can somebody explain it to me. If this is not possible, I'm probably not going to buy the remote. I was going to start another thread for the umc-1/URC remote holders, but I didn't know if there was enough interest in it... I think the R50 is similar to my MX-500 in that there is no computer interface. I was able to add the discrete ON/OFF codes for my Panasonic projector by taking the hex codes to a local A/V dealer that had a remote capable of learning the hex codes. The dealer was kind enough to learn the codes into its remote and then allow me to learn the commands from their remote into my MX-500. Cettainly not convenient but for me more convenient than not having the discrete codes.

I just hope EMO doesnt figure we will be content with they have given Logitech now, I want seamless control of my UMC with my harmony! I feel its something that should have been done by Emotiva before releasing the UMC I wish my piece of junk harmony 659 would work as good as the umc.I would think harmony would not release such a junky remote. I wish my Harmony 700 would allow me to reorder the Activities so the ones I use most frequently show up on the first page. Can't be done. There is no perfect remote. Even if there were a perfect one for me it would not suit everyone else.

I don't really even know where I would find a dealer. I live in the burbs of Pittsburgh(about 45 mins out of the city). There was a place I used to go just to check things out when I was in college, but it was even farther away. At that time, I didn't have dime to buy anything(college student...lol) and was only going there because they had rotel gear and I was enamored by it...I didn't really build a relationship with them. EDIT: Are hex codes typically how URC are updated? Doesn't seem to be very 'future-proof'. I mean, I understand that they have a learning function, but they should have a like a firmware flash or something that updates the codes. It seems strange that I would have to go to a dealer to update my remote.

Are you sure it won't allow that? My Harmony One does. Yes, sure. Talked to level 2 support last night and they confirmed. Harmony puts other activities first because of the hard buttons for watch TV and Watch a Movie, which are the activities I wanted on the first page. It's what I get for only buying a $150 remote. ;D

It seems strange that I would have to go to a dealer to update my remote. My answer may have mislead you. Hex codes are one format that works in remote controls. Codes can be put into a remote with a computer interface or by learning the signal. Since neither the R50 nor the MX-500 has a computer interface the only option is to learn the codes. My Panasonic remote did not have discrete buttons for ON and OFF. I round the hex codes on RemoteCentral. I finally figured out that if I could find a remote that could learn the hex codes I could then learn the signals from that remote to my MX-500. It was a cludgy solution but it worked. It was also very nice of the A/V dealer to do this for me since they got no benefit except good will and it cost them about 15 minutes of time.

Upgrade your remote on the Harmony website to the 610 (or whatever). Reorder your activities. Upgrade your remote on the Harmony wesite back to the 700. Your activities are now reordered! Cheap & easy... especially if you have a friend with a Harmony that allows reordering!!!! Best thing is he then takes his harmony and re-downloads his settings from his account!

Are you sure it won't allow that? My Harmony One does. As does my 880 Many of the Harmony remotes do not allow Activity reordering. Some don't allow it using Harmony's software BUT they do allow it on the Harmony website config tool. Some don't allow reordering the Activities at all. What a company....

Anyone have any experience with the Pronto remotes? Is programming too difficult?

Is the new firmware supposed to have discrete codes for the harmony remotes?

Dan, Could you give us an update on the discrete codes in one of your updates. I guess this was probably delayed because of all of the other stuff you have been working on. Just a new ball park would be appreciated (I may have to hold off on the UMC-1 if discrete codes are not expected for awhile. I need to keep my better half happy by being able to punch as few buttons as possible on the remote.

I was wondering since the firmware was updated, if there has been a viable solution for direct input selection for either the URC remotes or the logitech remotes.

Where are the discrete codes and how do we get them on the Harmony? Wasn't Lonnie supposed to release them?
