Hello all,
Ok I'm moving into my new house in a month. I am getting a dedicated room but it is seriously small. It is 10.5ft by 11.5ft and I think the ceiling is 8ft high. It is small but it is mine. I have 3 ERM-1s and 2 ERD-1's.
I'm looking for the best sub for the room. I want great extension and tight output. But I don't want to kill myself. It will be 99% for HT I hardly ever listen to music outside of the car bc I have a very nice car system.
I was thinking about something from ED, Epik, Outlaw, Rythmik, SVS. I've been waiting forever for the Emotiva ERS subs to come out but you all know how that goes.
Budget is $600 to $800 I guess I'll prob end up with the SVS PB12-NSD. I also like the look of the Epik Empire and the midbass that 15's usually put out make this sub promising.
Any suggestions would be awesome thanks guys.

That is a small room.
Unless you are trying to kill yourself then any sub in that price range from the manufacturers you are considering will fill that space fabulously and still have plenty of headroom
Personally, I am a big Rythmik F12 fan. It is what I have in my HT that is also my critical music listening space (living room, due to WAF, is full of hard surfaces and other music unfriendly characteristics).
If music is important, go Rythmik.
If HT is important, any of those (including Rythmik) will be great.
The Epik intro deal, although no reviews are available, would also be tempting.

keep in mind the Rythmik F12's are backordered for 6 weeks though... I still put in my order, but not everyone wants to wait that long.

Can you DIY? I'd build a two 15" IB. You can get everything from Parts Express, or any quality shop. Guaranteed to be better quality sub than anything you can buy for probably two or three times the price, in a tiny little box. <-------

Does anyone have any experience with the Epik sentinel? I would not hesitate to recommend the Sentinel. Very clean, loud in a relatively small enclosure. I'm using it in my 2.1 listening room. But, they are sold out right now. I think the Empire will do very well once people get some tweaking and reviews in.

I just realize if I get the Sentinel I might as well get the Empire with dual 15's. What I meant to say was the Vanquish not the Sentinel.
As far as IB I don't think the wife will go for that as soon as we move in cutting the ceiling up.

For $700 you can get a pair of eD A2-300s and never look back. Or, if you want slightly smaller boxes, the A3s-250 for the same money.

2 is always better than one. Multiple subs will have better interaction with each other and the room, compared to a single sub. You will also get better frequency response and more output from 2 compared to one, especially when dealing with quality subs.

Are you talking about trying this? home.comcast.net/~infinitelybaffled/page2IB-Gallery.htmlBecause I can use an existing floor vent to do this. Humm......... What drivers would you recommend?

You have a quite small room. You specify great extension so I think a single 12" sub is all you need driver wise if you can handle the bulk and this will go somewhat lower than the 10" models. You need a conventional large heavy sub for max extension in your price range.
I would stay with the brands that are known for their quality build and performance confirmed in pro reviews. I would go for those that are relatively narrow in width, no more than 15-18 inches wide. This would possibly allow you to be flexible in placement to obtain the best performance.
I would look at the SVS PB12-NSD, SVS PB10-NSD, HSU VTF-3 MK3, HSU VTF-2 MK3, Outlaw LFM-1 Plus or the Outlaw LFM-1 EX. Be sure your Emo speakers are set to small and crossed over no lower than 80Hz.
I own the LFM-1 Plus with 3 ERM-1's and 2 ERD-1's in a 13 x 37 x 8.5 room.
