I thought about calling eD about that published curve because it doesn't specify if it is groud plane. Also the SVS speficies that its response is measured 70 ft from any reflective surface.

I believe all eD tests are ground plane, outside, 1 watt at 1 meter, but it wouldn't hurt to call them. They love to talk shop, and love hearing my name when you call. Just tell'm Harvey sent you. And no, I don't get any commissions......yet!!!

I was looking at AV123 and they have a b-stock MFW-15 for sale for 399. I was wondering if this would be the way to go does anyone have much experience with it?

I was wondering if this would be the way to go does anyone have much experience with it? with the problems this sub (and company) have had, its quite hard to recommend them... Yes I did own one for several months, and It was a nice sounding sub. Just this company has issue after issue with these...from soft mdf, to cracking veneers, to bad sub drivers, to the huge topic of the bad amps they have supplied, to the ridiculous hum that so many users have...Its just very hard to recommend.

Buying subs suck they are expensive and you never know what you're getting I saw a riding lawn mower for 900 yesterday and I was thinking all those parts and utility for the same money as we pay for a driver, an amp, a wire, 4 feet, and a press board(essentialy) box. Doesn't seem right

ok so there are what I've boiled it down to Option 1: 2 eD A2-300's for $600
Option 2: An SVS PB-12-NSD for $660
Option 3: An Epik Empire for $918

I still say multiple eDs for the same money or less than one of the others. They will work better in the room than one sub, regardless of brand.

Much better choice over an Empire. SHoving 2 15"s into such a small enclosure is going to kill low frequency extension and kill the sensitivity of the subs in the 20-40hz range. The F15/D15 subs get real frequency extension down to 14hz and they are extremly musical with the direct servo control class A/B custom amplifier.

Ntrain have you heard the Rythmik F15? Does it have the midbass that the Empire is reported to have? Many say that the midbass is one of the most important ranges to create a sense of realism. We aren't frequently subjected to subsonic frequencies but we do feel midbass often.

We aren't frequently subjected to subsonic frequencies but we do feel midbass often. Subwoofers do not reproduce midbass. The subwoofer response region is less than 80Hz and mid-bass occurs in the region from about 100Hz to about 300Hz. Your main speaker woofers are primarily responsible for mid-bass reproduction.

The subwoofer response region is less than 80Hz and mid-bass occurs in the region from about 100Hz to about 300Hz. Your main speaker woofers are primarily responsible for mid-bass reproduction. I guess that depends how you define mid-bass. HSU defines it as 50 - 150Hz in their description of their MBM-12 (mid-bass-module). With a crossover at 80Hz a sub would still be producing plenty of sound at 160Hz, therefore covering the entire mid-bass range (according to HSU). Similarly at 80Hz, the mains would still be producing sound down at 40Hz (if capable). So really, both mains and sub are responsible for mid-bass, but any mid-bass slam will likely come from the sub.
