I'll second Chuck's suggestion of a SVS PB10-NSD. It is more than powerful enough for such a small room, goes deeper than most (20Hz or less) and has an exemplary linear response. See: www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-10nsd.cfm I use this sub in a room much larger than the OPs and it can really shake things up (including the neighbours downstairs....).

I saw that eD kit but I don't like that there is no amp recomendation and no internal bracing and we have no performance data

I'll have to watch the eD kit demo when I get home thanks for the links. I am thinking of getting the A2-300 to try out since I've never had a sub better than an 8" I just want to get the best I can for my budget.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I think I'm going to go with the A2-300 with my limited budget. I can use the other money to get an amp or something else then I'll have to work on a sub upgrade some other time.

Hello all, Ok I'm moving into my new house in a month. I am getting a dedicated room but it is seriously small. It is 10.5ft by 11.5ft and I think the ceiling is 8ft high. It is small but it is mine. I have 3 ERM-1s and 2 ERD-1's. I'm looking for the best sub for the room. I want great extension and tight output. But I don't want to kill myself. It will be 99% for HT I hardly ever listen to music outside of the car bc I have a very nice car system. I was thinking about something from ED, Epik, Outlaw, Rythmik, SVS. I've been waiting forever for the Emotiva ERS subs to come out but you all know how that goes. Budget is $600 to $800 I guess I'll prob end up with the SVS PB12-NSD. I also like the look of the Epik Empire and the midbass that 15's usually put out make this sub promising. Any suggestions would be awesome thanks guys. Best sub is still the biggest sub you can fit in there in terms of driver, enclosure and a matched amp. I always prefer and recommend large driver sealed enclosures(downfiring preferred).

I agree with the biggest, badest driver and amp you can manage. However I think the A2-300 will work perfect for the application and budget.

Wasn't the budget $6-800? 2 sealed A3s-250's would be IMO a much better choice.

At this point, if it's a choice between eD subs, I think he should just call them and talk to Brett or Alex and let them recommend which may be better for his application. Personally, although I prefer a sealed sub, there is really no major disadvantage to a ported design. A sealed sub may roll off smoother, but each design has it's pros & cons.

I was wondering ntrain why you reccomend the sealed. It has less extension than then a2-300. Does the sealed design have any advantage with my particular situation? Have you ever listened to the Epik Vanquish?

Why? Plus, with a 6-800 dollar budget, that would damn near be impossible. I'm sure Velo makes subs in that price range, but not anything that will compete with ED, or other ID brands for 600 bucks.

Have you ever listened to the Epik Vanquish? The general consensus is that a sealed sub is somehow more musical than a ported sub. Ported subs usually have a steeper roll off than a sealed sub which is usually gradual. Finally, a ported sub will have more output and extension than a comparably sized and powered sealed sub. There are some that have a perceived notion that with a port, you will hear port noises from the air passing through. On either type sub, if the design, build, materials, and implementation are of superior quality it really shouldn't matter whether it is sealed, ported, down firing, or front firing. What should matter is personal taste, preference, and the reliability of the manufacturer.

While I am extremely pleased with my SVS PB10-NSD, I have to say the eD A2-300 also looks quite promising. I'd be curious to see a head-to-head comparison of the two. They both seem to extend quite low, but the SVS PB10 seems to have a flatter response curve, at least judging from their respective published curves (below). Personally, I'd still go for the SVS, and I think the current sale price of $475 makes it a bargain. However, I really have no idea how good/poor the eD may be and it may be an even bigger bargain for all I know. (SVS PB10-NSD): (Elemental Designs A2-300):
