Hello Friends! Here is our UMC Feature and Issue Tracker solution. Please help us collect your issues and requests for the UMC product by using the input form. This will make it easy on all of us to see in one central repository all the needs from the UMC customer base. This will only work with your support and thank you for your consideration. Please press the access icon to open the UMC Tracker Input Form. Once you fill it out please press the submit button. Once you have entered your issue or new feature request you can view all entries by pressing the UMC Tracker View All Entries icon. The master database spreadsheet is secure and can be accessed by Emotiva to add their comments. All entries are immediately viewable. Emotiva can sort the data in several ways for us. I hope this will make our ability to share and view our constructive commentaries on the UMC-1 much easier for everyone. Thanks I added the V7 General Release as the new software version

Well I have changed HDMI cables yet again and found I also had to use HDMI 1 input for my Pay TV STB to work. It has been working all day today without any big issues or faults, no channel drops outs and the picture has been stable and good each time.
Handshake is slow to pick up video (I have audio coming through optical as it's always worked better for 5.1 on this particular STB) but at least it works everytime now.
DVD seemed fine as does BluRay on the couple of movies I watched, didn't have a single powerdown issue and the sound stage and quality is wonderful. Soon as I get the new mic I can finish setting things up but I'm a very happy man today Emotiva, many thanks indeed.
This is all running the lastest firmware release, maybe even though it reported it loaded correctly the first 2 times something didn't work as it should because I did it again and now things seem to behave well. 3rd time lucky I guess lol.

I've logged the following issues that I've found. I'm running W7.01.00.14 (v7 General Release), but I don't know if the same issues were present in previous releases (I didn't "look" for them).
- Failure to recognize Dolby Digital EX streams. - Failure to play MC-PCM 96kHz/24 bit (drops center, all surrounds and subwoofer). - Failure to (repeatedly) execute selections chosen in "Advanced Playback". Most of the time, it forgets my choices and defaults to its "original" programing or simply defaults to "Direct". In the case of DD EX streams, this results in no audio at all.
Hopefully, these issues will be resolved before the 30 day evaluation period is invoked.

Has Emotiva been looking at the tracker form? I'm wondering if anyone who's posted an issue has been contacted by tech support for clarification or to acknowledge that the problem exists and is being looked at, etc. It would be nice to get some feedback as to what issues they're looking at.

Yes indeed, I'd love to see a "work in progress" thread where issues are acknowledged/addressed.
BTW, (for Gman) if you leave your DD EX stream playing for a while does it eventually "activate" mine seems to come on after 20+ seconds (not acceptable but at least you can use it that way).

Hello everyone and thanks to Gman sending me a nudge note I have added the V7.2 to the Tracker Form.
I could never thank you all enough for supporting this project and it is reviewed by Emotiva.
regards, SnS

Every time there is a quiet sequence in a movie, e.g. no background music and dialogue stops for a moment, it seems as though my UMC-1 causes my speakers to pop, then make a smaller pop when sound starts up again. During these times, the OSD does not come up to say that it has lost the signal or anything, so I'm not sure what's going on.
This also occurs when no input is going to the UMC-1, e.g. after I turn off my satellite receiver, I'll have a blank screen, and my speakers will still pop. This does not happen when the UMC-1 is turned off, so I know it is not my power-amp causing the problem.
Also, when using my PS3 and going through the menus, the "click/tink" sound that the PS3 makes causes the UMC-1 to acquire a signal momentarily, then lose it again, each time causing the speakers to pop and the OSD to display.
Are these bugs, or part of the design? Seems to me like something like this would not pass testing. Seems like the UMC-1 turns off its processing or whatever as soon as it loses the signal - I think setting a 5-second delay on this turn-off would fix 99% of the cases this happens in for me.
Also, sometimes when switching from my satellite input to my PC input (PC connected through HDMI), the display garbled. I know it isn't my PC, because turning the UMC-1 off and then on again fixes it.
Also, initially when plugged into the UMC-1, my computer said that only 1080i/30Hz output was supported. When plugged directly into my TV, my computer correctly gets that 1080p/60Hz is supported. I had to FORCE 1080p/60Hz output, which the UMC-1 seemed to allow and "pass through"
Also, when switching from an HD channel to an SD channel on my satellite receiver, my UMC-1 says my TV does not support the signal. I'm fairly sure my TV DOES support a 480i/60Hz signal, as well as every other type of video output from my satellite receiver.
Also, I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but my remote for my UMC-1 arrived with corroded/leaking batteries in it. I removed them and bought new batteries. My remote now intermittently works or doesn't work, e.g. I can press the increase volume button 50 times and nothing will happen, and 5 minutes later it will work fine. (Yes, I am pointing the remote directly at the UMC-1)
Sorry if this is not the right place to post these issues.

The leaking battery you should call or email support about and ask for a replacement.

Hadn't happened in a while so I thought it had been fixed, but I had the dreaded center channel dropout of a DTS-HDMA track from my PS 3 last night. I have the 7.xxxx.14 firmware.

I would suggest upgrading to 7.2 anyway if you are listening to DTS, not that it will fix the drop-out issue (although I have only had a couple with 7.2). With luck the next instalment will appear soon and the centre loss is on the list.

Typical - I have never had the "won't completely power down" issue. Until I upgraded to 7.2! Dang, now I have to care about when they fix that.

How many times have you tried to reload it? With all the roadrunners, dyohns, moes, ect. saying theres nothing wrong with the umc, you would think it has to be a bad flash. But if lonnie states he coming out with a update to fix the power down issue, that kinda scares me a little because if it fixes the problem for us joe scmoes. Is it going to cause problems for their perfect units? If its not to difficult to do try reloading a couple times and see if that helps it as it appears emo has no way to tell if the whole flash took 100 percent. Thanks for letting us know how it turns out.

The new front panel code is out - as it is in the front panel, those that have not had the issue could just ignore it. I plan to do just that as I don't see the need to have the plastic remote disabled when I am not seeing the SD problem and do not have a USP-1.

Thanks for letting us know how it turns out. Well, considering I have to borrow a Windows machine to do the loading (I'm a Mac/Linux shop), I have only loaded it once. Well, twice if you count the first failed attempt. Is there seriously no way to tell if it took? That sounds elemental: checksums.

Just noticed that you need the metal remote to do the front panel update. Despite having my UMC since May/June, I still have not received a metal remote. I guess I will have to call to get one.

When switching advanced playback options, i.e. having pcm automatically be in NEO:6 5 channel stereo, the change does not take effect until you power down and power back up again. This is with V7.02. It did the same thing with V5.
