I'm glad some of the issues have been confirmed. A fix should be forthcoming...is anyone else still having issues with the Surround left and right? I get no sound at all. If I swap the RCA's on the UMC from SBL and SBR, to the RS and LS, the problem moves. I have a UPA7 that has been returned and checked out by Emo....any ideas?

My god people can go on and on about commending Dan and Lonnie for honesty. Thats great should we expect them to be something other than that? I mean really its business and their business and my money...Sick of the lovey sh** just get the damn thing fixed already! I think thier point is Dan and Lonnie get on this forum to respond to posts and communicate. How many other companies would do this if their product had problems. I sure Emo want this fixed as much as we do.

I hope we get both a quality FW update with all issues fixed and no new ones. And I also hope we get a simplified installation procedure that requires only the loading of a boot CD in any computer or a USB loader routine that requires no computer.

On a competitive note, the Onkyo SC5507P is scheduled to be in stock in the USA by Mid to Late June. So, if the UMC-1 is not robust by then, I will move-on to Onkyo so that I can actually have a working Home Theater. Silly me, I sold my previous pre/pro in anticipation of Emotiva actually hitting their promised delivery date for the UMC-1.

I've sold my old reciever too. My situation is less complex as I will only use the Emo connected to my Oppo.

At least that's what a couple of authorized dealers were saying. So you mean they missed their delivery date and had to push it back?

Seems like there are dropout issues there as well...

You should re-read that review - they were referring to problems with the Direct TV DVR's and shows recorded on them, not the Onkyo unit. I have problems with my Direct TV recordings also, audio dropouts once or twice an hour. It's Direct TV that's supposedly aware and working on the issue.

Seems like there are dropout issues there as well... I disagree. I have an Onkyo TX-NR5007, which is essentially a 5507 with amps - I think they even use the same firmware. I also have a DirecTV HR-21 DVR which gave my UMC-1 fits. The audio dropouts with the Onkyo are not dropouts in the UMC sense. With the UMC, the dropout would switch the decode mode from 5.1 down to 2.0 channel, losing about a second of audio in the process and sometimes even losing certain channels, and stay that way for a long time (another dropout forces resync?) or until I pause/resume. With the Onkyo I have yet to hear the audio actually dropout. Sometimes I hear a slight tick in the speakers as if the stream was corrupted, but that is it - and it is far less frequent that with the UMC. It doesn't even impact the ability to discern on-screen dialog. I suspect the problem has to do with the fact that the Cirrus chips in the UMC dynamically analyze the stream and switch decoding modes accordingly. When a corrupted stream comes in the processors reaction can be unpredictable. The Onkyo keeps its lock on the stream through the very brief corruption and it shows up only as a very brief bit of distortion. If my suspicion is correct, this may be a problem with the architecture and would be very difficult problem for Emotiva to correct with firmware.

I placed my order.
As I've stated before: I've read all the posts and the spreadsheet of issues. Now Lonnie's and Dan's posts confirm what I saw, and I'm confident I will be getting what I want, at a great price, and with great support.
Accepting blame is admirable, but doing something about it is commendable.

Actually the 5507P was shipping as early as Feb. of this year, but everyone who's selling it is out of stock (at least the authorized internet dealers that people recommend). I gave up my spot in the UMC1 preorder list and ordered one of these, but I'm not supposed to get mine until Mid May. They have been out for some time, though.

After getting banned for my comment, which really wasnt THAT bad by the way, I am pretty much done with this forum. My comment was more or less intended as quit with the explaining and BS already and just please get a fix for everyone. We all know by now it wasnt entirely ready to be released. Anyways, I hope it works out for the best, as I always have.
